You're posting about social media addiction on a social media platform of which you're a regular member. I don't see the logic.

The worst addiction for me would be one that I'm not aware of, so as long as I'm "vigilant", I don't really worry. I do try to stay alert of my forum/SNS (social media) usage... I think it does benefit me to minimize my usage, so I got rid of social media and I moved my news feeds to RSS... I really only post on TiBB these days and when on mobile, I search a lot of new content if I'm curious about a topic or just login to read my feed. Anyway, I am self-protective of my "inner space".. and have done a hiatus in the past from here, as well as social media... At one point in my life, I even dropped my smartphone for several months and went completely analog while I was still on bed-rest for the most part. It was amazing. I tell my friends to try disconnecting for a while if they are dealing "bogged down", suffering depression, mood swings or issues with fatigue... it's like a weight lifted off the shoulders. It also felt like I had way more time in the day than it used to feel, and so that felt nice... whereas time itself was a stressor.
Anyway I think the DSM moved away from stating specific addictions and now they throw categorize them under a shared diagnosis... I guess because the pathology is very similar?... I forgot what that diagnosis was... but I read this when reading about internet addiction in the past. If they just keep putting in random X addiction(s) into the DSM, obviously not only is that more to keep track of, but would bloat the amount of sections needed... maybe a small block in the index section referencing all the possible things that people could be addicted to, if the list is fairly large could be inserted there... so it's easy enough to scan... and then refer back to that disorder or disorders if there are a couple of variances.
