Some good news.
https://news.sky.com/story/miss-grea...egory-11413905 [A leading UK beauty pageant has vowed to keep its swimwear round, despite a US-equivalent deciding to scrap the event from its competition. Earlier this month, the Miss America beauty pageant said contestants would no longer have to take part in a mandatory bikini round. The pageant's managers said the shift would put more emphasis on a contestant's talents and skills, rather than her looks.] Sign Of The Times Last edited by arista; 23-06-2018 at 11:20 AM. |

I do think the swimsuit rounds objectify women. However, beauty pageants in general basically do that anyway. Someone very talented and skilled but was average looking or less..would never win a beauty pageant...so this explanation from managers is utter bollocks.

Like I said in the other thread, if it's about wit and intelligence, bring out Betty White. But it's a beauty pageant, so don't.
Einstein wouldn't win a pageant, and the next Einstein isn't exactly gonna be an entrant, so keep it how it is, if it's gonna continue. |
