I do think they were trying to get her in badly, but I always felt like they would probably be negotiating last minute for every penny she could get because I imagine it's a hard sell. And understandably so.
The Eye of the Storm + leaked rumors may have been waving the carrot so to speak... it's entirely possible she would have to leave for whatever reason for legal/political purposes, so I'm sure the not being paid if I have to walk for any reason may not have been that enticing to her...
I don't particularly think she's worth a $750K signup much less the light bill to watch, but I'm sure other brands would be easily tempted to pay more as she's a current headliner... so it's a seller's market in her case.

No. If they walk, they receive something but nowhere near their full fee. Unless, they leave a week before the end due to unforeseen circumstances (injury etc) then they might get fully paid.
But no contract completely prevents you from pulling out. Especially one for this sh*t show.
As for just showing up for launch, what would be the point if she no longer wished to take part?
