Default Outrageous tampering with Bovril

See this link

This misses the point

Bovril is the beef drink for us carnivores

Marmite is for veggies (I like Marmite as well)

Leave Our Bovril alone!

I think Bovril along with mushrooms and cucumbers should be banned as they are an afront to good tast......

Every prisoner should be subjected to a cup of Bovril a cucumber sandwich and a chicken and mushroom pie every day of their sentence. that would cut down re-offending by at least 98%........

So are you tempted to try the Veggie Bovril?

I have nothing against a veggie Bovril, I just would like to have the chance to have the beef variety as well.

shameless plug to this site

Bring Back Beefy Bovril

Perhaps we should buy shares in Unilever and make our protest at a share holders meeting

Bovril is still sold

But Check the front of the jar

They used to say Beef Extract as this one does

Now they say Concentrated Savoury Yeast Extract Drink

Bovril used to be beef and now, with out any fanfare, Unilever replaced the Bovril we knew with a veggie version so they could appeal to vegetarians. They have even kept the same red colour scheme hoping people would not notice.

(I thought they did that with Marmite as Unilever owns that as well)

Anyhue, Bovril do a chicken Bovril, which shows they have done co-existing varieties. Why can not Unilever just bring out Veggie Bovril and leave our beef version alone?

My mini campaign is to get Unilever to bring back the beef extract version. They can keep a veggie version to add to their range.

So it is not bring back Bovril, but

Bring Back Beefy Bovril

Hi, Odd Socks ..... weclome to TIBB!

I think this should explain it:

Quote:
Bovril, the beefy drink beloved of football fans, has been stripped of its main meaty ingredient in a bid to boost sales, its maker has confirmed.

Unilever says vegetarians can now enjoy the drink and the move will counter concerns overseas in the wake of BSE.

The drink's usual 40% of beef stock has been replaced with a savoury yeast mix at the firm's Burton-on-Trent factory.

Unilever said in blind taste tests 10% did not notice any difference and 50% preferred the new product.
So, yes you can still get Bovril .... but it's now a beefless variety!

While you are running your campaign any chance you can add to it 'Bring back coconut & nut revels
They replaced the coconut ones with coffee Yuk!!!
Now we have raisins instead of nut!!
Why do they have to change these things I don't like change

Never like it myself, but after BSE I think this would be the reason they have changed it, it's bound to taste slightly differant but hopefully it's a lot safer.

Have you had any reply from the makers Sticks with any reasons given for the change ?

I have come across a sort of Super Market own brand of Beef Extract

Read all about it, plus the latest twists and turns with my tortuous correspondence with Unilever

All on this site
