Default Superman Premiered 40 Years Ago Today (yesterday in US time)

And the superhero movie genre got off to a flying start! *hehe*

It still holds up today! (Except for maybe the ending but there’s been worse)

...Does it, though? It's a good film but the special effects really don't hold up. Though they're not AWFUL considering the date of release and budget.

I remember coming out of the first Sam Raimi Spider-man feeling like I could just hop up over the seats and swing out the door.

... I wasn't even a little kid, I was nearly 17.

I also came out of The Matrix feeling like I could alter things with my mind and was a ninja but more excuse there as I was 13 (and already puffing my chest because the film was a 15 and I got in )

The special effects are dated yeah but as a film the story/acting holds up.
As much as I loved Amy Adams as Lois, Margot will always be Lois Lane to me

I would guess at "no", it was before TV went big-budget so it was more like a soap opera than a modern TV show. Like... Murder She Wrote, but with super powers .

Honestly if you liked 90's TV you'll love it, it was some of the best.

I’ll definitely have to check it out!

Back (slightly) on topic, I really like Superman II as well (though I think it’s a bit overrated), Superman III is boring and Superman IV was terrible. Superman Returns I didn’t mind too much? Don’t understand the hate for that one. Man of Steel was great for the most part but really bloated towards the end.
