I'd be interested in seeing more from that world BUT I'm against any explanation of the creatures or seeing them in any form. That would take away from it I think.

Manchester-by-the-sea
8/10 - bleak, well acted, not your usual movie, no happy ending, thought provoking |

Split
Had been planning to watch it for ages and actually really enjoyed it. The portrayal of DPD is obviously more sci-fi than accurate but as (spoiler) it does essentially turn out to be a Sci-fi movie as much as a psychological thriller, that can be forgiven. James McAvoy is brilliant at portraying the various different personalities... you genuinely buy that these are "different people". His face can look completely different from one personality to the next, purely through expression. |

Spoiler: Really well acted film though. Even though I would've loved it to have been more of a psychological exploration than what the movie ultimately became. Last edited by Marsh.; 21-01-2019 at 04:57 PM. |

Inferno (2016)
9/10 > the best film in the trilogy IMO, nice action here and there and it was shorter than the previous two films which made the film less boring Nightcrawler (2013) 8/10 > didn't think I would like this but it was thrilling especially when Louis Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) gets to the scenes and films the action up close and personal Split (2016) 8/10 > solid film with entertaining moments scattered throughout, also seeing 23 personalities that the villain has was weird to watch The Village (2004) 6/10 > it was okay throughout but they should have shown more of the 'monsters' as we barely see them but the twist saved it I guess

Glass - I didn't really like Unbreakable or Split so I didn't have high hopes for this one but actually I really enjoyed it. James McEvoy deserves credit for playing all those characters so well too, that can't have been easy 7/10
Hereditary - This was really creepy, it was everything I want in a horror film really, pretty decent storyline, keeps you guessing and really sinister 8/10

Did you? For me it was the perfect horror, the ending isn't that important for me in horrors which is odd because for every other type film or TV show I get annoyed with awful endings (not that I really thought the ending was that bad here anyway) The mood through the whole film was so perfect for a horror, it was very edge of your seat and creepy. It reminded me a bit of a film I saw years ago, Rosemarys Baby, that really freaked me out aswell

Why So Serious?
|
Sleepers- This is a film I've been meaning to finish for a long time now. I first discovered it in 2013
This is a film where it's split into two halves- the first half where they're Teenagers and the last where they're adults. The first half is phenomenal and extremely engaging to watch. However, When the film skips to their adult selves, it loses quite a bit of steam for me. I used to always watch up until Spoiler: Overall I would give this film an 8/10. Kevin Bacon was excellent in this film, he really made me hate him. Can't believe he wasn't nominated for an Oscar Last edited by Tony Montana; 28-01-2019 at 02:04 PM. |

Our House (2003)
9/10 > (also know as Duplex in some places) New Yorkers Alex (Ben Stiller) & Nancy (Drew Barrymore) move in to their new home but it comes with a permanent fixture in the form of an elderly tenant who refuses to move out, Alex & Nancy try and come up with solutions to get rid of her with funny results, overall very funny comedy with a nice twist at the end Atomic Blonde (2017) 9/10 > great action & 80's soundtrack, I felt it fizzled out near the end a little but the action scenes before were amazing so I wasn't that bothered about it Sicario (2015) 7/10 > good but it fell way short of my expectations still good enough to watch the sequel even tho Emily Blunt isn't going to be in it 8MM (1999) 7/10 > Nicolas Cage as Tom Welles pursues a bizarre trail of graphic and disturbing evidence to determine the fate of a complete stranger, basically snuff video theme, it was a good film overall and better than most Nicolas Cage films nowadays I know but what I mean't was they barely used the 'monsters', I would have liked to see more scenes with them like chasing people into their houses ETC I felt they were underused

Jungle (2017) - Jungle
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3758172/ Daniel Radcliffe was amazing in this! Survivals/true stories are probably my favourite sub-genre and this didn't disappoint. The ending where we found out about the fate (or non-fate) of Marcus was pretty sad and reading what Kevin and Yossi did with their lives was nice to see. 9/10 |
