Cerys gets friend’s go-ahead for romance

CERYS MATTHEWS was last night evicted from I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here – and friends gave her the go-ahead for romance with fellow jungle celeb Marc Bannerman.

Cerys has admitted she will only go on dates with men after her circle of friends have approved. And one of her best friends yesterday revealed he has already met ex-EastEnders star Marc – then told the former Catatonia singer, “Go ahead, love.”

Emyr Penlan, a friend of Cerys for more than 10 years, said, “I thought Marc was a very nice guy, genuine and honest.

“I would say to Cerys that he may be a good match for her.

“I’m happy if she’s happy. She seems very smitten by him and I wish her all the best.”

Emyr, a presenter on Welsh-language TV, has been keeping close eye on Cerys’s life in the jungle.

Cerys, 38, from Trefin, Pembrokeshire, revealed on screen that, after her failed marriage to American Seth Riddle, she lets her friends vet any future boyfriends.

She said, “I have a group of men friends and anyone who shows an interest in me, they check out. I like to check them out as well but they vet everybody for me.”

Emyr, 36, said, “I’ve already met Marc. I interviewed him for a TV show about three or four years at a charity event. He was very down-to-earth and I liked him. So I would tell her to follow her own feelings with our support.”
