Surely the whole point of their initial meeting was that it lasted a week at most, and they didn't really know each other? Dragging it out into a full on story would make it hard to fit in with the original.
I'd rather they make a sequel with the original cast, where it's a reunion of some kind, or maybe Danny and Sandy a renewing their vows so invite the old crowd along.
