It should be up to parents to monitor and block inappropriate content for their children, it shouldn't be an excuse for the government to monitor and block websites unless you agree to basically hand over your information. It's truly grim what this could lead to.
You could apply that to a lot of things though it should be up to parents to feed and cloth their offspring as well but many have no issue letting the state do that and are happy to hand over their information

I think that's a silly example.

Clothing and food are vital, this seems like just an attempt to encroach on people's rights in the guise of protecting children.

I wonder how long it'll be before this block spreads to things other than porn?

No its not a silly example you seem to think parents are helicoptering around their kids 24/7 when that is pretty much an impossibility

There are plenty of programs and apps for restricting access to inappropriate sites. There are a lot of options. Parents don't need to hover over them all the time, they just need to do the bare minimum.

You seem to be forgetting that families have kids of all ages and that when they go to their friends houses they to might have older siblings etc , its not really as simple as you are claiming, not to mention that kids are pretty savvy at getting round parental controls when they get to 8 or so

Every kid since time began has managed to hide stuff from their parents, did your parents know everything you got up to Dezzy?

How on earth is this comparable to parents in financial difficulty having help with feeding their kids?

Its the same principal that parents can be monitoring their kids 24/7, same as parents can fail when it comes to feeding and clothing their kids due to outside influences ie losing a job or a partner the same goes for parenting kids in general....so to say parents should be protecting their children 24/7 from outside influences is pretty much impossible

So... a parent losing their job so needing financial support to feed their child to keep them alive is the same as a parent... monitoring their child's internet useage?

Yeah. Ok Cherie.
