Jade supports pal Amy

Big Brother star Jade Goody has come out in support of troubled singer Amy Winehouse.

The gobby 26-year-old, perhaps best known for her ditzy comments, has said that she can understand where Amy is coming from.

"Amy is a friend of mine," Jade insisted, "And people slag her off but that's because they don't understand.

"It is a shame. But a lot of her fans have been really supportive and that's really great. I just wish her well."

Jade has suffered a rough ride in the spotlight herself, but now seems to have emerged the other side.

The star, who recently teamed up with step-by-step cooking guide Watch it... Do It, now has plans for the release of a new book detailing the lives of three addicts.

Explaining where the idea for Addict came from, Jade revealed that she drew a great deal from her own life and her family.

"My dad was an addict, my brother was born an addict and I was addicted to slimming pills," the Big Brother star confessed.

Jade's dad Andrew spent four years in Wandsworth prison before he died of a heroin overdose in 2005.
