Leaving the European Union without a deal would vastly shrink the UK’s international influence and would represent “the biggest unilateral abandonment” of long-term British interests in modern history, a group of former ambassadors have claimed.

In a letter, signed by 25 former senior diplomats and published in the Times, they urged Boris Johnson to “signal a different approach” at this weekend’s G7 summit in Biarritz, France, and retain “close relationships with our European neighbours”.

It said: “An impending no-deal Brexit … would result in an unprecedented – and self-inflicted – diminution of Britain’s international influence. We need a foreign policy based on long-term UK interests and a strong economy, and that requires close relationships with our European neighbours.

“No deal represents the biggest unilateral abandonment of those interests in modern British history. It should not be allowed to happen. We hope the prime minister uses this G7 meeting to signal a different approach.”

a no deal is what people voted for, to be cut off entirely from europe

so if that doesn't go through, it's bad for democracy in britain

No, a deal with the US post no-deal brexit will mean they get to take complete advantage of us because of our desperation for a trade deal. It's a threat to food standards, regulations, and our NHS.

...listening to the Boris and the Donald fluffing each other’s feathers and egos...I love you...I love you more...no, I love you more...no I said it first, I love you to the Summit and back...or summit...Boris isn’t a ‘great’ anything or the ‘right man’ for anything...those are all things that are undecided yet because it’s about his country, it’s about the U.K...not about Trump...that though is Trump’s mindset...how great will this person and their country leadership be for me..?...what can YOU do for your Trump...it’s kinda laughable, only it’s not...these are two people whose personal egos come before anything else and so many important things and people’s lives are at their expense...
