Remembering Kerry
|
This is really sad.
I rate Louise Ellman a really good MP. It is unfortunate moves were afoot as to reselection. I don't see anything wrong with that, MPs can't be guaranteed to have their jobs for life. Some have long careers as MPs others very short. I will always wish Louise Ellman well. I don't however understand her timing. Just barely 2 weeks ago, if Johnson had got his wish for a general election.. She'd have stood for Labour on its manifesto and now be in the middle of that election campaign now. So are her reasons now, just the fact re-selection moves were heading into place, since she'd have been out there in Liverpool, fighting for a Labour victory, now likely in this very week. As to antisemitism, she knows a full independent investigation is in place so why not wait for that to happen fully and get concluded. I'm confused slightly as to her real reasons for resigning now. Rather than before a general election could have taken place 2 to 3 weeks ago. Whatever, it's a sad end to 55 years in a party and over 20 as an MP. Terribly sad. |
