The hype surrounding the Spice Girls' sold out tour was never ending- and last weekend's show lived up to expectations.
There wasn't an empty seat in the 02 Arena, with the 15,00-strong crowd all determined to have a great time. The Spice Girls were on stage for an impressive two hours, in which they delivered their entire back catalogue of greatest hits. The crowd went wild for hits including 2 become 1, Say You'll Be There and Who Do You Think You Are, while new song Headlines was met with a lukewarm reception.
Costumes changes were constant but spectacular, with one notable change seeing each Spice pay tribute to their Sporty/Scary/Baby/Ginger/Posh alias. The crowd showed Victoria the most love every time she sang by herself, and her catwalk show was over the top- but very Victoria Beckham.
In response to earlier criticisms about their voices, the girls did sing live throughout the show. Did they successfully carry it off? It was hard to tell- the majority of the audience drowned them out! But the girls looked like they were having a great time- particularly Mel B who, during her solo, grabbed a male fan, chained him up and straddled him! By the look on his face, his Christmas had come early.
Emotions ran high for the Spices when they performed Mama, as their children were in the audience. But the highlight of the show was their encore of Wannabe, which had everyone singing, dancing and definitely wanting more.
