I refer to this video. When I indulged myself in the tripe that was the Jeremy Kyle show, I don't remember anyone laughing at a woman who went through abuse. Yeah I know there's different audiences but it illustrates the point that there are people (hopefully a vocal minority as opposed to a majority) who don't take these crimes seriously

Domestic abuse is not a one way street, it affects both both genders, all sexualities and all forms of relationships. The truth is that your attitude as well as the attitudes of other people in this thread who find this funny or not at all serious would not think the same if the roles are reversed.
Being scared to be in your own home and around someone who is supposed to love you because they hurt you and you don't know how to escape that situation or if it's even possible, is not a joke and anyone can find themselves in that situation, anyone.
