Default Question about teachers

Do teachers commonly allow their former pupils to address them as their first names rather than their titles once they become adults if they still know each other? There was this episode of Coronation Street where Steve MacDonald met one of his old teachers and the teacher said to him just to call him Mike rather than Mr Russell.

Well... I don't think allow comes into it, if they're an adult they don't have to do what their old teacher says and should really treat them just like any other adult .

THAT SAID ... if I ran into any of my old teachers, especially primary school teachers, there's NO WAY I'd be calling them Mary or Jean or whatever instead of Mrs White and Mrs Dunlop etc

We did have a high school teacher who we all called by her first name (Sylvia) when we were in 5th/6th year (age 16-18 or there abouts) even though she told us every single day to cut it out . Poor Sylvia struggled with being an authority figure.

Just had the rather grim thought that, as I finished primary school nearly 25 years ago, and most of my teachers were in their 50's or 60's, some of them are probably dead .

We had a science teacher called Irwin Davis. Everyone used to shout Irwin after him as he walked the corridors. Poor man.

We had a Chemistry teacher called Mr Shankra, we called him Wanker Shankra. My pal crept up on him when he was writing on the black board and clipped a bunsen burner to his lab coat but when he felt the weight he grasped it and turned around at the metal bit smashed some test tubes on his desk.

Needless to say my pal got 6 of the belt and boy could Wanker Shankra draw the belt - his forearm swelled up like a balloon

happy days

We had an elderly chemistry teacher unfortunately called Dr Peaston.

So yes. Dr Pee Stain.
