Tesco online has a maximum allowance of 80 items a shop online from today.
All deliveries will be in bags.

It is at my nearest Tesco, quite a few people being told to wait outside whilst one person went in. Also quite a few elderly people out with a younger family member therefore having to choose between sending the elderly person in alone, or leaving them outside alone.

Not all that well thought out, in my opinion.

Default The PANIC BUY thread (Covid 19)

I tried ordering online off Boots last night ... there were nearly 250,000
people AHEAD of me and it said there would be delay ...

At precious M&S today there was a queue and a one-in-one-out policy. Only 3 in the queue when I went though and I was queueing for less than 5 minutes.

Shelves were full though, no shortage of anything. Except... still no pasta. Has pasta gone extinct?

They've also pre-bagged all of the loose baked stuff at the bakery section which TBH I feel like they should do anyway... I don't want to worry about some pervert fingering my victoria sponge muffin.

What about all the produce that’s been touched by other customers .. they just move things around or pick them up to read the label or sell by date ??

Surely there are the germs/bacteria everywhere?

I mean... I don't really know what to say there. Probably, yes. The same is true in any shop and with any online delivery though and you have to eat so it's unavoidable. All you can do is try to minimise the risk of catching something... you unfortunately can't avoid it completely.

Just try to put that risk in perspective I guess.

You can't get into a car and drive down the road "risk free", all you can do is wear your seatbelt and drive as safely as you can to minimise the risk. There's not much in life that's risk-free. Maybe not anything at all.

Literally picking up a potatoe is no different to picking up a can of beans and then putting it back, apart from the fact you wash your potatoes?

Agree with the bakery thing I don’t like it ...all on display for anyone to touch

It was an example if you are buying loose produce surely people wash it before use and the cooking will kill off bugs

True, and with things like a tin of beanz the best practice would be to wash your hands after you've taken it from the cupboard, emptied it and binned the container. I wash my hands constantly while cooking anyway out of habit (working as a pub grub chef when I was at Uni).

This is an added problem that greedy people caused by stock piling there really was no need, went to Waitrose last night and still they are queueing Those selfish people have added to this worry.

Went to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription, and brought some Ibuprofen for a toothache for Ł2.99. Went to CO-OP for some milk, had tons of Ibuprofen and Paracetamol for 70p and 55p. First time I'd been out since the lockdown, read too much about all these shortages and 'panic' brought them in the pharmacy and am down Ł2.50 Oh well, got enough to stay in for while so all good.

Just back from Tesco. Saw a guy buying 4 crates of San Miguel, 5 paellas and 3 sombreros.
I thought to myself...

Hispanic buying.
