Sorry if there's a thread on this...
On nights and Kate asked for threads lol Is there any positives you have discovered from being locked down if you are? Rediscovered an old hobby... Done some decorating... Had some deep and meaningful convos with a partner.. Reconnected with your parents/ kids. . Made more effort to exercise. .

Loads!
I've decorated the living room totally, started a new oil painting that I'm weirdly happy with, been exercising/moving as much as possible (averaging 11K steps a day), begun sorting out the back garden (mowing, weeding etc), put up my Niece's new trampoline we've had in the shed for yonks and tomorrow I'm going to start trying to put together her new Wendy House we've had here in bits for months which I'll then hopefully paint if the weather keeps up. Lots to keep me occupied but first and foremost, I've been taking it very easy and the benefits have overall been great. Last edited by LaLaLand; 11-04-2020 at 01:18 AM. |

Technically not on a full-on lockdown here but I / many are still doing it as much as possible and forced to in some ways
But there's actually some positives tbf: - I'm more willing to catch up on / watch shows & movies with the extra time home - Spending way less money because pre-quarantine I eat out too much which is costly even for cheaper fast food places compared to eating mostly home cooked and supermarket-bought meals and leftovers that I've been eating now. And I spend too much when going out anywhere as well. Edit: Like Jake said, saving with gas too - Less stress and more convenient working from home which I'm starting to reeeally appreciate actually - More of a "making the best of the situation" - Playing more variety of video games with friends & tibb members. On top of that, still hanging out with friends a decent amount through these video games & lengthy phone/group calls & such There's more negatives but it's not too bad in some ways too

But mostly around that age probably... younger than that and he'd probably start driving you crazy and become a "negative of lockdown"

Our income is down by over Ł1000/m and yet money seems to be stockpiling in our account. The only real explanation is that we spend an obscene amount of money on dinners out, take-aways, fuel and random shopping-centre trips . We usually pretty much spend our entire income. Wtf.

Eldest is very, very sociable and while she was fine for a couple of weeks, is starting to get quite down with not being able to see friends and go to stage school etc. She can still talk to her friends every day (they all have things like SnapChat, Roblox... she's even taken to playing Fortnite with some of the boys in her class...) but it's not the same as socialising in person. So while she is generally great company, at the moment she's very sensitive and getting upset easily. ...sorry, this is meant to be for positives of lockdown! I guess on the positive side, youngest has gone from mostly ignoring the dog and lowkey disliking her/finding her annoying, to enjoying her company and finding her funny, because they're stuck together all day so she's had to get used to her . The pair of them together is guaranteed mischief though. If it's too quiet and youngest + dog are nowhere to be seen, there's bad things afoot . |
