One Direction are apparently reuniting for their 10 year anniversary
Quote:
One Direction fans will be aware of the very special anniversary coming up. No, not four months since Harry Styles wore that incredible dress on a magazine cover, but rather 10 years since the band was formed on X Factor. Yep, a whole decade!
Following the Simon Cowell days, the lads went on to sell millions of records and win over 250 awards, before Zayn Malik made the decision to leave the band in 2015. Later the same year, Harry, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan announced a hiatus, and have since all released solo albums of their own.
Now, five years later, it looks like they're ~almost~ as nostalgic about their 1D days as we are, with Page Six reporting news of a reunion. A ONE DIRECTION REUNION. Internal screaming: encouraged!
While there's "still a long way to go" when it comes to working out what the reunion will actually entail, early ideas apparently include a new single or filming a TV special. The band's official 10 year anniversary lands on July 23, and whatever they choose to do, the band are apparently just very keen to thank fans for their 'loyalty' over the years.
The report continued that Harry, Niall, Louis, Liam (and even Zayn!) had ruled out going on tour together again, but that the coronavirus pandemic had put their 'differences into perspective'.
"There’s still a long way to go and a lot of hurdles," the insider commented. "But there’s a lot of goodwill between them now and they want to make something happen.
"Each of the boys wants to somehow thank the fans for their ten years of loyalty. Despite each of their solo successes, each of them knows that the greatest thanks they can give to their fans is for them to do something together in tribute to where things began."
This comes as the remaining One Direction members - Liam, Harry, Niall and Louis - all refollowed Zayn on Twitter, and #OneDirectionReunion also trended. Liam Payne also opened up to The Sun about how they had all been in touch, commenting, "We've got a 10-year anniversary coming up so we've all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks which has been really nice.
