In terms of story concept, the writing Inside Out is easily the best Pixar has
But the message of the Film you can figure out by the time you're 10 years old I think that I was expecting something on the maturity level of the old guy from Up with the way that people went on about the Film.

And imo if your characters aren't likeable or interesting to me then the story has got massive issues, even if it's the intention of the writer for it to be the case.

I know that I'm being uber harsh on a Kids Movie though so I probably should lower my standards a bit.

Well yes I would say the point of the film is a simple way to explain complex emotions to 8-11 year olds (it's about her discovering that life isn't always kind/fair, that happy memories can make you sad too, and the "dying" of her childhood personality as she heads into teen-territory).

Maybe it works better for kids or people who have kids that sort of age (mine are 7 and 10) .

Conversely... And I know this will be an unpopular opinion... I wasn't a huge fan of "Up"

"The House", with Ron Burgundy and Leslie Knope.

We were looking for something dumb and silly as we wanted to totally veg out for a couple of hours. It worked perfectly for that purpose .

6.5/10 if that's what you're looking for

Don't go in looking for anything that makes sense or has character development or much of a plot or anything like that. It's just Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler having a mess around with their mates. LOADS of actors from smaller Parks & Rec roles show up.

John Tucker Must Die (2006)

Staring Brittany Snow, Jesse Metcalfe, Ashanti, Sophia Bush and Arielle Kebbel.

When three girls from different cliques (Ashanti, Bush and kebbel) discover John Tucker, the most popular, handsome and rich boy at their high school, has been secretly dating all three, they vow they get even with him with the help of a new girl (Snow).

Whilst it isn't no Mean Girls, it's still a fun high school comedy flick.

7/10.

That's not to say Ethan Hawke didn't deserve his Oscar nod too, as he was so convincing in his role as well.

Really enjoyed watching this.
Glad you loved it! One of my favourite films of all time.

Denzel killed it as Alonzo!

Spoiler:

The Mexican scene is so intense. Jake is so lucky he had Smiley's cousin's wallet.

Tbf Inside Out appears to be popular amongst all ages, it's just me I think against the Film.

What didn't you like about Up out of interest?

That was the copy you watched, it wasn't like that when I watched it, still a terrible film though

Seven Psychopaths - 8/10

Loved it, not quite as good as In Bruges but its reminiscent of it enough to make it a great watch

Ex Machine - 7/10

Not generally into sci fi but I'm always kinda intrigued by AI. I've enjoyed Westworld as well and this sounded sorta similar which it very much was (obviously predates Westworld)

Wedding Crashers - 10/10

About my fifth rewatch and still probably the greatest comedy ever made

"Time Trap" on the Netflix.

Really not what I was expecting AT ALL (painting-by-numbers low budget horror) and turned out to be quite a fun piece of timey-wimey sci-fi. Acting is hit-and-miss and a couple of characters are a little bit pointless... And requires a bit of suspension of disbelief (see spoiler) but kept me interested for the 90 minute run time and went in a direction I didn't expect at all, which is refreshing because I find myself guessing the outcome of films too often.

7/10

Spoiler:

My main gripe with the gaps in logic are that given how fast time passes on the outside, I feel like there would be more people down there already, and more people would come after them than just poor little Furby and Tall Paul the 8ft Future Man...

Did you watch The Gentlemen yet Matt (Colin Farrell being in it too reminded me of it) that was one of my favourite films I've seen this year actually, plus Colin's character in it is brilliant

Omg was it good, the opening credits being so long annoyed me and then opening line of ‘I will have a pint and a pickled egg’, I lasted 15 mins

Border

Watched this on Film4 the other night (it’s now on channel 4 player if you’re interested) Erm...I don’t know where to start. From the writer of Let the Right One In (which is also a brilliant film)

I don’t know for a lot of the film I was like “what the **** is this” but I ended up liking it when it finished. It’s an experience anyway.

Included the most bizarre sex scene I’ve ever seen in a film

Contagion 9/10

Great film that kind of reflects on us today, though it would be scary to have a global pandemic where you die within 5 days of catching it

Just watching Kevin Costner’s The Postman for only the second time ( first time was when it was first released decades ago ) .

Anyways it’s surprisingly good and I’m pleasantly surprised .

It was funny to see a scene showing how the world was totally devastated just like the world portrayed in the MadMax movies but then the caption said ..

“ In 2013 ....”
