really? The statement is biased because she didn't rattle off a list of country names in the comparison? .

For what it's worth, from her own words ("someone who dies of a stroke in a care home but happens to also be positive for Covid is included in the Covid death figures") I'd say it may be more a case of Scottish care homes over-reporting than vice versa, but she's still correct to point out that the difference is in reporting methods and not in actual numbers.

I'm torn over the methodology though; on one hand I think in this situation, whilst 100% accurate reporting would obviously be ideal, so long as that's unrealistic I think it's probably better to be over-reporting than under-reporting. On the other hand there are certain aspects of reporting across the board that are in need of vast improvement because the overall picture painted by just reporting numbers with no context is misleading. Hmm.

Personally I think that care home deaths are under reported. A manager at works wife works at one in Pontefract, there have been 22 deaths attributed to covid at that home alone. Both he and his wife have had the virus.

Diabetes is one of the underlying health conditions that health experts believe put people at greater risk for developing more severe symptoms of Covid-19 and the study, published in the journal Diabetologia Thursday, seems to confirm this.
The researchers looked at more than 1,300 coronavirus patients in 53 hospitals in France between March 10 and March 31. Most -- 89% -- had Type 2 diabetes; 3% had Type 1 diabetes; and the rest had other forms of the disease. A majority of the patients were men and the average age of all the patients in the study was 70.

many older folk become diabetic as they get older, so if the test subjects average age is 70 it doesn't mean a lot. If there were evidence that young folk with diabetes were also affected the same way, it would mean a lot more

Thats no surprise Kizzy i agree we have so many unreported deaths from care homes and eventally when the truth comes out i think it will be astonishing , but sadly way too late. They are all loved family members not just figures ! The hurt goes on.
