Poor Boris. If only he'd been in a position to do some things about it, we'd all be better off. Oh...

The leadership has been woeful throughout, the only Tory worth a damn throughout all of this was Rishi Sunak, the rest were atrocious.

Frighteningly woeful I agree.

The mixed messaging, procrastination, reactive catching up.
Despite having foreknowledge of what was happening in Italy and elsewhere.

Hindsight not even an excuse, after sitting for weeks watching Italy particularly fall into holes.
Then the UK jumping deeper into the same holes.

I also agree Rishi Sunak did what was right and is the only light from the government on this pandemic.
Although sadly, I soon expect him to be getting restrained as to the future of the effects of this pandemic.

Really shocking display however, from other Ministers and the PM too, who seems to misread so much as to the dangers still.

New rules for weddings in England:

Under the new guidance for England released on Monday, small wedding and civil partnership ceremonies are allowed to go ahead only when they can be done safely and follow social distancing guidelines.

The advice says:

Ceremonies should be kept "as short as reasonably possible" and limited as much as possible to just the parts that are legally binding
No more than 30 people should attend
Everyone should follow the 2m rule if possible, or 1m with extra safety measures
No food and drink should be consumed as part of the event
Hands should be washed before and after the exchanging of rings, and the rings should be handled by as few people as possible
Singing, shouting or playing music at a volume that means people have to raise their voice should all be avoided. Instead of singing, recordings are suggested
Speaking during the ceremony - for example saying the responses to the vows - should not be in a raised voice
Playing instruments that are blown into should be avoided
When singing or chanting is required, only one person is allowed to and the couple or venue should consider installing a clear screen
Venues frequently used for weddings should mark the floor with tape or paint to help people maintain social distance.
The government advice also suggests changing traditional wedding layouts to avoid face-to-face seating, improving ventilation or using face masks.

The requirement to follow the 2m rule - or 1m with extra precautions - will likely rule out the tradition of a father walking his daughter down the aisle, unless they live in the same household.

The maximum number of 30 people includes everybody at the ceremony - including the couple, witnesses, officiants, guests and suppliers such as photographers and caterers.

The guidance also says receptions that "typically follow or accompany marriages or civil partnerships are strongly advised not to take place at this time".

It says small celebrations should only take place if they follow social distancing guidelines, such as groups of up to two households indoors, or up to six people from different households outdoors.

The reason people are urged not to sing or speak loudly is based on scientific advice which suggests doing so produces more respiratory droplets which enter the air and can be inhaled by others.

That sounds like a bundle of fun

local lockdowns are going to become a frequent event. There will be flair ups and they need to be acted upon quickly. Eventually it may even get down to street level

UK isn't ready to come out of lockdown
I agree in part.

It should have been trialled in a smaller way perhaps area by area first.
Not rolled out across England.

The infection variations were, or should be, known by government so they would have been better operating in that knowledge.

Like everything else through this pandemic, they are just reacting to issues as they arise.
Procrastinating, they've known the issue with Leicester for over a week.

So it's back to catch up again to try to just get back to the fragile situation we were in before having to lockdown a city in England.

Now I'm not a scientist, nor a virologist nor thankfully part of this dangerous, risk taking Government.

Before the charge of hindsight being a great thing comes up, if it does.
Hindsight here in the UK has never been an excuse.

We saw right off what happened in China, we saw the chaos brought to poor Italy in this and the holes they fell into.
Then saw it spreading.
Through February to mid March we did next to nothing despite having that forewarning of all that was to come.

There's no hiding place for this government on that.
Their deceit and lies all through have been exposed.
Their deceit on PPE equipment, the lies on testing, they don't say how many people are being tested, counting 2 tests on the same person as 2 tests, not just one.
The unnecessary deaths of those in Care homes.
Needs to be and I hope in any future investigation of this, is seen and recorded as a national scandal.

The losses of lives of Doctors,Nurses and NHS staff, plus other Care staff.
Due to lack of protection equipment.
An absolute disgrace.

Then we have this dangerous self styled buffoon of a PM shouting let's get the bustle back.
As if all is solved.
With all Ministers just crawling along behind him sickeningly.

The word normal cannot be used now, there is no normal.
There has to be the safest, most secure and compassionately fair new way of life for all, across the UK.
While this pandemic remains.

Taking any risks is dangerous and acting on thought, rather than knowledge of more certainty as to what could result from action taken, is extremely dangerous.

Hence now, Leicester the first at least to face a turnaround back to lockdown after such a small relaxation.

This is a nightmare for any government to have had to have thrust on them.
However hindsight is out the window.
We knew in January and February what was the chaos in Italy and spreading elsewhere.
That's being forewarned.
Yet we jumped deeper into the holes Italy found itself in.

That is incompetence on an unprecedented level by any government.
The warnings on their table, yet they did next to nothing for nearly 2 months.

I think local lockdowns are a good idea.
And it could happen everywhere, London included.
It's better to act on it before it gets out of control.
And it won't be forever, only until the numbers come down.
