He really is annoying.
He has been hyping up this relaxation of the lockdown.

I know more based to aid the economy, which needs to be done but with maximum safety.
However, he's used terms like get the bustle back.
Presenting a more carefree attitude to the relaxations and building up to the media terms of super Saturday tripe.

The media have been terrible near all through this pandemic overall.

Now he's pleading for not to be reckless after all the hype of the last weeks.
He's like he's deranged.

He should have been the steadying, calming, responsible voice of seeing the UK totally through this pandemic.

Not flip and flop from demanding caution and then seemingly throwing caution to the wind.

BoJo's failure to call out Dominick Cummings or his father for their little excursions are pretty damning...

I was laughing at the briefing yesterday, there was a spokesman talking about the region and how clearly people had not been social distancing, he then went on to say that he didn't want to blame anyone but these people were being selfish, they are tying up valuable resources and people will know who it is

There's a spike in D&G because of overspill from the North of England. It bolsters the case for quarantining at the border, it doesn't lessen it.

Not sure if you're brushed up on Scottish geography Cherie but that's the county that sits on the English border.

There were 3 a couple of days ago, I've repeatedly said that the consistent number is between 0 and 3, and it's not about "bragging" ffs. It's about pii ting out that numbers are lower and wanting to keep them that way? Apparently some in England find that offensive, "if we still have it bad here then why should YOU have less?".

Just ridiculous.

There has been a spike in cases because people in D&G regularly cross the border, as the closest large towns and cities in the North of England are closer than Glasgow or Edinburgh. The spike is specifically because of D&G residents travelling to English cities. Sorry if that's tough to hear?

Just looked at James figures again, how do you explain it?

Ayrshire and Arran

Dumfries and Galloway
292 confirmed cases

i agree it's not a pissing contest, but ... loook at the graph below for London which has a much higher population than Scotland and a much higher population density ... the figures are consistantly downward ... that is just as great a result as Scotland

That's London's chart?

That's an impressive turnaround.

Those figures are totals not current active cases? No one has disputed that cases were just as active in Scotland as England at the peak... They correlated almost exactly with English figures, accounting for population numbers (e.g. Scotland was at about 100 deaths/day when England was at 1000 deaths/day, with a 10x population difference). Ayrshire & Arran is the 3rd most densely populated region of the country, after Greater Glasgow, and Lothian (Edinburgh).

Number have dropped significantly more and faster than the North of England, to very low levels, and now the only (small) spike is due to overspill from Northern English cities.

I'm baffled at how, or why, anyone would be desperate to deny this other than for partisan political reasons (e.g. James having a significant history of distrusting the SNP and being heavily pro union.)

I'm aware that there are also regions of England that are in a similar situation when it comes to the numbers having been brought down to very low levels successfully. If they had the ability to close borders, I'd suggest it would be a very sensible move for them, too.

They shouldn't deny Scotland the choice of doing so just because they can't. "Well if we can't then you can't! Hmph!".

If it's the sensible choice in terms of keeping infection rates down then it should be done. Simple as that.

I have no problem with you guys closing borders, not sure how it would work though, people cross the border to go to work, then you have all the Scottish people who reside in England but have family in Scotland, shut it to tourists maybe? But then don’t pop up at PMQS in a months time looking for a tourism bailout
