I didn’t mind it but the Jeffrey/Stacey/Brooke combo just doesn’t work . They all seem a little awkward and forced (particularly Jeffrey, literally feels like he’s reading from a script.) The cast is decent though and the challenge was good. I’ll tune in again but idk if I’ll stick with it just yet.

Spoiler:

How did Boa make top three and Kyne was bottom btw? Kyne was right, that was a liberty.

That lip sync was better than anything from DRUK or S12 though, spectacular

KYNE what a monster

I agree that the "guest host" thing didn't really work at all, especially when this week's guest host was more charismatic and personable than all of the actual judges combined. I thought the delivery of their critiques was unnecessarily harsh and tactless, particularly Jeffrey's, so much so that they managed to give a queen a full-blown panic attack on episode one ("everybody say love" indeed). And speaking of the judging, I'm feeling entertained... amused... the judges were interesting, their judgement was interesting...

Spoiler:

Rita being given the win when that was her reveal was an odd decision, as was BOA Chipz being in the top for gluing stuff onto a corset . I think my three tops would have been Jimbo, Kiara and... honestly maybe Ilona? My bottoms would have been Juice Boxx and Rita so I'm clearly not cut out to be a judge on this show lmao.

Speaking of Juice, it was obvious that she would be going during her red-eyed teary confessional about her sobriety, proving the Drag Race rule that a queen who gets personal content during the getting-ready-in-front-of-the-mirror segment is almost definitely going home (it was either going to be her, BOA, Lemon or Ilona, since we barely heard anything about the other queens). Otherwise, she gave me fairly strong season 2 Sonique vibes, so I can't imagine she would have lasted much longer anyway. Although I did think that she was winning the lip sync for at least the first half, mainly because I was in disbelief that Lemon went to the most prestigious dance school in the world and was dancing like Pearl.

I don’t have much to say about this other than I liked Jimbo and found the panel set-up confusing. Like, is Brooke host of the show or not? Lmao.

I don’t think I’m invested enough to watch week by week, tbh.

yeah the whole thing would have been much more accessible had Brooke Lynn just been the main host and Stacey and Jeffrey her Michelle and Santino, but part of me wonders if Ru's ego is so enormous that she wanted to be the only drag queen hosting an English-language Drag Race

I think it has potential but there's some serious issues with the format and it's all to do with the judges. Jeffrey is really annoying in everything he does, he's pretty much a face and nothing more and everything he said sounded like a line he was being fed. He's atrocious and forced. Brooke is fine but she's not a big personality and it's showing. The other judge seems okay, I don't really have any major issues with her as an individual yet but all together I thought they made for an unlikable panel and the whole guest host thing is just strange.

I'll probably stick with it for the moment but Jeffrey's gonna test my patience, he's just so... basic and annoying.

I'm undecided on the queens, there's some good ones there but I think there's a lot of filler and queens that haven't grabbed my interest yet.

Yeah this is gonna be a pass from me. That was just... forced and boring. None of the judges interest me, the guest host was RuPaul's lingering presence is equally odd - and it's going to be a hard sell as its own franchise if he can't be bothered to show up in person but insist upon his workroom VTs and introducing the show.

Spoiler:

The runways were by and large awful. I would have given the win to Kiara, which is odd because she has the invisible edit that surely shall doom her to a week 3 "we haven't seen the real you" boot. Bottom two looks were BOA and Juice Boxx for me... I really haven't a clue why BOA/Kyne were saved other than for the drama. Oh and having a panic attack immediately? Jesus christ.

So many of the queens' confessionals grated on me. Lemon, Kyne and in particular the Bobo girl give me major 'Ariel Versace' vibes (ie SUPER annoying twink with an inflated sense of self-worth). And then the other wacky/OTT queens didn't really impress me that much; Jimbo seems fun and goofy, reminds me a little bit of Love, Connie with her lack of attention to detail on her makeup and cheery personality. If I had to pick favourites I'd say her, Ilona, Tynomi and Rita.

I will say though, the weird explosion between Anastarsia, Kyne and BOA was mildly amusing... for all the wrong reasons.

...are you on drugs? Better than Heidi vs Jaida? Better than Widow vs Gigi? Widow vs Jan? It was fine, a 5 or 6/10, and neither of Lemon's splits were necessary/wowing.

Watched this today... The production value matches the US and the UK so that's good, and the dynamics of the cast with their personalities have me intrigued that this could be a good season, but that's where it kind of ends...

Jeffrey is SO annoying, does he think he's Ru? Every line he says is imitating Ru to the T. I thought Brook Lynn would've annoyed me but I don't even think the Crazy Frog would be annoying if you put it next to Jeffrey Bogoff-Chapminge.

Like people say, the judging panel on the original Drag Race have that charisma and their own dyanims, Drag Race UK has the British humour, and something felt weirdly harsh when it came to the judging that I was not expecting from Canada? I will stick with it and see how it goes. JimBob is my fav so maybe until she gets eliminated.

Brooke Lynn never struck me as someone who was particularly capable of being the main(ish) host on an international season of Drag Race but I feel that she rose to the challenge pretty well. Stacey McKenzie has always been a straight shooter and I think Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman is just doing what he thinks is expected of him, so I guess that explains the frosty dynamic of the judging panel. Saying that, this is S1E1 so perhaps giving them a bit more time to build rapport with eachother & the queens will put that to bed.

Kyne is so terrible but she brought the dramz so I can't really hate her! In a way her delusion makes her rootable. If she can boldly state "We're living in a world where BOA beat ME" whilst trying to catch the baubles falling off her garment and kicking them across the stage in a design challenge then she can stick around until at least mid-season for sure

I would've said the top 3 looks of the week were Jimbo, Kiara and Priyanka. I also thought Anastarzia Anaquway and Scarlett BoBo did really well, and I personally would have put both Rita Baga and BOA in the middle of the pack. Overall, the correct bottom 3 was chosen and despite giving a really good lipsync it was definitely Juice Boxx's time.

Anastarzia's runway was the perfect example of someone putting a lot of skill into something that looks hideous. She clearly showed more sewing prowess than any of the others with working with such a difficult fabric, but she looked like Tempest DuJour's fall runway and wore an ugly wig to boot.

um okay I watched it, the thing that I noticed was theres 0 likeable people so far. Kyne was messy and just seemed desperate for the attention constantly, Lemon was very annoying especially in her confessionals, Juice Box walking out in that outfit was a scream.. she really thought she'd done something half of them has basically no edit at all.

Ill give this weeks ep a go but if it doesnt get better then I might give up.

Primbo or Jimyanka?

Love those two and BoBo. Didn't mind Rita either, reminds me of a local queen from years back. Absolutely hate the judges though.

i gave this a go and kind of liked it? definitely different but i sort of liked the neutral judging approach across all the judges. I think all three main judges were fine obviously not as strong as the dynamic of ru, michelle and ross. I also really enjoyed the queens a lot more then i expected kyne is so funny even if she's purposely trying to stir up some attention i was living for the mess.

jimbo
anastarzia
boa
kyne

llona
tynomi
lemon
rita
priyanka
scarlett
kiara

juice

Would've been a toot if she didn't have that hideous dress underneath. Should've kept the coat on

Ranking the queens for E1 was more difficult than anticipated because I see likable qualities in pretty much all these queens.

This cast kinda reminds me of S9.

1. Kiara
2. Tynomi Banks
3. Scarlett BoBo
4. Anastarzia Anaquway
5. Jimbo
6. Ilona Verley
7. BOA
8. Priyanka
9. Kyne
10. Lemon
11. Rita Baga

Episode 2:

Spoiler:

The way Rita should have been in the bottom last week yet won, and should have been in the top this week yet was safe... what kind of drugs are these judges on (+ Jimbo absolutely should have won)

I could watch Tynomi Banks lip sync for hours

p.s. Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman should never be allowed to take on "host" duties again, because even Ru manages to inject some non-robotic emotion into his lines

BOA should have gone home, and the fact that they sent content goldmine Kyne home over her basic ass is a pertinent reminder that this is production's first time doing this

Episode 2 rankings:

Jimbo (the true skinny young fashion queen of the season)
Anastarzia Anaquway (have your faves ever been shot multiple times at close range? I don't think so! not but seriously I'm glad she's safe and well and able to be with us today/walk ridiculously in figures-of-eight on the Canadian runway )
Tynomi Banks
Rita Baga (redeemed herself after last week's injustice; her delivery of "help me pick up this skinny legend!" in that thick French Canadian accent of hers was far and away my favourite part of this week's challenge. Mind you, that runway was disgusting, so... swings and roundabouts)
Lemon
Scarlett BoBo (I'm not sure why it is that I like her as much as I do, considering she's barely on the show. Perhaps I'm a closet arsonist at heart)
Priyanka (I do like her a lot, it's just that... it's really obvious that she used to be a kids' TV presenter, isn't it?)
Kiara
Ilona Verley
BOA

Jeffrey Bower-Chapman

Kyne (best non-Tammie Brown second boot ever? "Don't cry. I'm about to go home, this is my moment" is an instant hall of fame quote)
Juice Boxx

@ "Miss Endangered Species pageant"

Spoiler:

Jimbo should have won for the second week in a row but whatever
Lemon and Priyanka did well, I just thought Jimbo edged them a little bit in both runway and challenge.

Tbh Kanye didn't do that bad but really she brought nothing except being a brat, and not even a funny one at that. Her look was a mess.

Tynomi Banks lipsyncing was so...captivating.

PS: Anastarzia and Brooke Lynn out of drag are eye candy and are so fine

Just saw an interview with Brooke Lynn Hytes where she said the judges hadn’t met until the first day of filming and honestly ...... it explains a lot.
