PS5 Digital Edition price reported but Sony faces PS5 supply issues


[Apparently, the slow-down at the factory
is due to the intricacies of the PS5's revolutionary
system-on-chip.
The sources claim that production yield for
Sony's SOC chips has dropped as low as 50%,
meaning 1 in 2 is deemed not good enough.

Fingers crossed we'll find out more at
tomorrow's PS5 showcase. The Japanese giant says the
40-minute virtual event will feature "a look at some of the
great games coming to the PS5 at launch (and beyond!)".
The event begins this Wednesday,
16th September at 1pm PDT / 9pm BST / 10pm CEST.

As it stands, Microsoft is leading the race for Christmas
sales, having announced that the Xbox Series X
will cost Ł449 ($499, AU$749) and the Series S Ł249 ($299, AU$499).
Xbox pre-orders begin from 22nd September.]

More expensive than I though, I was thinking around Ł400 and Ł300 for the digital version.

I'll stick to my plan of waiting until February/March to buy it, I think. Miles Morales is really the only game that's really tempting me at the moment and, if Capcom are consistent with their release dates, it'll be around February or March that REVIII releases.

What's the word on PS2 backwards compatibility? I don't really buy physical games any more, the last was nearly 3 years ago, so I would totally go for the digital edition (mainly for the sleeker look) but if there's PS2 backwards compatibility I'll be shelling out for the drive.

I googleded it and it is just PS4 DISGUSTANG. Might as well just get the digital edition then ..

So disappointing. I would’ve thought they’d at least make it compatible with PS3 games but nope just PS4 only.

Is there an explanation for why it won't play these totally random games?

Also... I'm assuming the answer is yes but... I'm assuming we can download PS4 games we own on PSN to the PS5?

Yeah, you can download PS4 titles to the PS5. You will also be able to play with PS4 players in those games too.

Good to know, I still have a tonne of PS4 games I've not played and I'm pretty sure my PS4 isnt far from giving up completely.
