Default Live Aid....

Anyone watch the programme on it tonight.
25 years ago on July 13th...it was phenomenal. Queen were superb...watched it with my flat mates in the garden on a beautiful summers day...raised 50 million pound. Bob Geldorfs legacy.

I caught the end of it, will have to watch it all though when I have chance.

Wish they'd show the whole concert again! Perfect "Lockdown" weekend viewing imo.

Was it Live Aid or Live 8 that Phil Collins performed here and then flew straight after to America and performed there at their gig? Or am I imagining that?

Just Google'd - it was Live Aid. Thanks to Concorde!

^ Yeah flew on Concorde.

it was a great idea, but sadly very little of the money raised got to the people that needed it. That was the big lesson from it all. It opened my eyes to charities too as I contributed to it.

The other thing was that everyone who performed on the shows saw a bump in their record sales, so it forever left a bad taste with me.

I really loved watching the videos my Brother's had of it as they recorded it at the time.

Obviously I was a few years off from being born.

It was a great event and the stars performed brilliantly.

For me however, watching it.

While all was really excellent for such a varied and very long event.

The moment that got me was when David Bowie did Heroes.
Somehow it seemed to add a new explosive element to it.
Fantastic performance.

Actually that's a very deep set of thinking there.

Sad to think that.
You'd have thought any increase of sales in the performers recordings, for a period of time, could have been donated to the cause.

I agree with your now reservations towards it.
Sad.

We watched it rusti, brought back so many memories, felt a bit for Midge Ure as he got left out a lot and was a major part of Live Aid ,but it was great to see it all again.

I believe he did too, not very loyal it seems, but it was a great feat and it brought the tragedy to a worlwide stage, I did tear up at the cars video.

Midge was very involved in getting the initial single out, getting the various bands etc involved, he didn't have as much involvement in the live aid concert
