...Hereditary...such a typically powerfully unhinged performance from Toni Collette, it was her movie really..with a nice little sprinkling of Ann Dowd, as well...I’m not generally a horror person, but as well as the horror/supernatural etc aspect..there was also much psychological of a family broken and a family grieving...and a few jumps as well...hmmmmm, I was thinking 7/10, but Toni Collette, though...so 8/10 because she always gives such a mesmerising performance .....

Hangover, Hangover 2, Hangover 3.

I was surprised how funny I found them. Best character by a country mile: Leslie Chow.
9/10 for all three.

Mulan (2020)
I enjoyed it a lot, actually. It's not really a remake of the animated film, more like Disney's take on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but I enjoyed it for what it was. I still wish they had the songs though.

8/10

The Babysitter
This one was pure brain-off entertainment and I found it quite fun. It's nothing to write home about in the long run but it's entertaining for what it is.

7/10

Ready or Not
I REALLY enjoyed this, it's a great concept, the acting and writing is superb and it reminded me a lot of You're Next which is probably one of the best horror films of recent times. It's just an excellently well crafted film.

9/10

Lady Bird

I liked it, was a very accurate representation of teenage life - but I found it quite skittish? Like it'd move from scene to scene really fast.

7/10.

Riding on the Bus with My Sister

I felt bad for laughing, it was clearly not meant to be comical ... but her performance was the funniest **** I've seen this year

The Babysitter: Killer Queen
It's a very dumb sequel to a very dumb film but unlike the first film, it's not quite as fun. It's still a fun way to whittle away an hour and a half but it goes a bit to over the top with some of it's more stylised sequences that it loses it's way a bit. Samara Weaving's lesser role in this film hurts it a lot, I think since she was the glue that really held the first film together.

6/10

..I’m Thinking of Ending Things......I watched it because it’s on Netflix atm and because Scott recommended that I watch ...it was totally absorbing, the actors were all perfectly cast..Toni Collette was amazing as always .....Jessie Buckley, Jesse Plemons and David Thewlis were all pretty wonderful as well...I guess it’s the type of storyline that would define ‘poignant’...because it really was so reflective and filled with sadness/regret....just really wistful...and I think, many tones and shades of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in how thought provoking it is...(..thank you so much for the recommendation, Scott.....)...

...hmmm, I would say 7/10, I think...

I'm Thinking of Ending Things was very good until the drive to the high school part, which went on waaaaay too long.

This movie really, really unsettled me... Like for days after I just felt drained from it. Harrowing movie.

Love or hate the movie (it's divided opinion but I thought it was very clever, one of the best "horror movies" for a while) there's no denying that Collette was absolutely robbed of an Oscar nom here. Incredible.

...yeah I guess it was quite extended and that was felt a bit by me as well...but when the ending credits did begin...?...it kind of made sense as well..(....to me anyway and probably just my own thoughts...)...because it was all representing a whole lifetime of regret /of loss/of sadness etc...he was obviously quite elderly as the janitor and he’d never had a romantic attachment in his whole life..?...so obviously it was all played out in a fantasy of dance in the end.../..a whole lifetime...also, I always get lost and mesmerised, watching ballet...so it could have gone on much longer for me.......oooops

...have you ever watched Rosemary’s Baby, LaLa...?...it’s quite an older movie but Hereditary had so many vibes of it for me...I’m not sure that Rosemary’s Baby had such a psychological aspect, though...it wasn’t as balanced as Hereditary and definitely leaned more toward horror completely...devil/demon stuff really unsettles me as well.../...probably the Catholic in me...begone you devil etc...

I thought Scott didn't like it?

It was far too long, I wasn't really a fan tbh

I get that and I see what they were doing but I think if you're not liking it at the time you're sitting down watching it, where is the enjoyment? It's not, not my thing, i did like Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind a lot, just not crazy about this one

I'm Thinking Of Ending Things
I posted my thoughts in it's thread, but in short, it's a horrifically dull piece of ****.
0/10

John Wick 2
I'm no fan of action films but I did like the simplicity and the heart that the first film had a lot. The sequel is a technically rather brilliant film with excellent choreography and cinematography but it didn't have the heart that the first film did. The lore of the Continental and the world of assassins was very interesting but I didn't find the sequel as compelling as the first. It's still far better than 99% of action films though, although that's not difficult.
7/10

Zodiac

Really enjoyed this! Been wanting to watch it for a while and it was on last night. A great cast too (Gyllenhaal, Ruffalo, Downey Jr.)

8/10.
