i won't be watching the film, but the context is always important, so i wouldn't rush to judgement on a clip

There are audience members audibly booing and making rude gestures throughout the performance, I wouldn't say it really glamourises their performance at all. It's uncomfortable to watch though, as are child pageants.

...I didn’t ‘stick up’, Arista ...and can you imagine my shock that you’re saying that’s what I’m doing......I posted some reviews that are pretty good reviews of the film so I won’t go Twitter cancel crazy vibe, until I’ve seen the film and the whole context of it ...because from the few reviews I’ve read...it doesn’t seem to sexualise, so much as show how children can be sexualised in this digital age of social media etc...

Cuties opened to positive critics' reviews in Sundance due to its succinct portrayal of a sensitive topic. Screen Daily also felt that the film was for mature audiences and "explicitly designed to shock mature audiences into contemplation of today's destruction of innocence".
Originally titled Mignonnes, the largely well-received French-language film premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival, won the World Cinema Dramatic Directing Award. If anything, the film appears to be a comment on the hyper-sexualisation of children, the very thing that critics are objecting to. It was well-received for its mature handling of hyper-sensitive topics.

Neh the more I see and read about this, the worse it gets. It doesn't matter if it's a well made film or what the message is; the content is horrendous visually and unquestionably exploitative of the child actors who are in the film, to such an extent that I'd call it negligent or even abusive. This should never have been allowed to be made using real child actors. Not in the name of art, nor anything else.

...by using actual children to push a provocative conversation topic. Wow aren't those film makers edgy!!

Honestly I can only imagine that the people writing these articles haven't realised that the half naked (and apparently, there is partial nudity) children in the film are actual children who cannot possibly have known what they were making "for the adults to have a good ol' think about". Vile.

It’s a paedo’s dream dressed up as art, was it Slim posted a video a while back from some TV show where kids dressed up as adults and sang in the 80s, it’s as vile as that, for once Twitter is spot on
