It's just viruses in general . I was actually reading earlier that there was a (tiny) Ebola virus outbreak in the US a few years ago, just 4 cases identified and they were all asymptomatic. And Ebola has like a 60% death rate and melts people's eyeballs, so...

All pubs, bars, restaurants and other hospitality venues in England must have a 22:00 BST closing time from Thursday, to help curb the spread of coronavirus.
The sector will also be restricted by law to table service only. The measures will be set out by the prime minister in Parliament before an address to the nation to be broadcast live at 20:00 on Tuesday. It comes as the UK's Covid-19 alert level moves to 4, meaning transmission is "high or rising exponentially". The government's chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance warned there could be 50,000 new coronavirus cases a day by mid-October without further action - which, he said, could lead to more than 200 deaths per day by mid-November. On Monday, a further 4,368 daily cases and 11 deaths were reported in the UK. There were 3,899 cases reported on Sunday. |

So both strains are floating about obv... there's no way there would be a lockdown proposed for something that only renders the majority asymptomatic.
It must to be to prevent the more aggressive strain mutating and being as easily transmitted as the 2nd.

The guy on the train is an MP... not a real person, an MP! Nobody in Westminster actually has to abide by any pleb rules, don't you know anything?

i just don't see the logic in closing pubs an hour earlier to reduce the number of infections. People are still travelling to and from the pub and socialising which, to me would be the fundamental points where infection could occur

It doesn't sound like it's going to be a shutdown of sorts.
I never thought I'd agree with Edwina Currie, yet she pointed out pubs always used to close around 10pm or so. Weren't open all day. Also Sundays only opened shorter times if at all in some areas. Sometimes, when I hear from those much older than myself, my family, and reading up on life pre and post the war, particularly post the second world war. It seems to me looking back. In those periods, 50s and 60s moreso. We seemed to have the answers to what was better for things arising. While here now, we've gone back to the questions. Struggling to come up with any relevantly better answers now too. What I hope to hear, since the worry is that this virus is possibly, not certain, to take off even more dangerously again. Just what is Johnson and this worrying at the very least, government. What are they intending to do to ensure the fullest protection of the most vulnerable and elderly. Oh better add, before the critics fly in, nitpicking my words, protection for those vulnerable and elderly WHO WANT the fullest protection. They took the aid away when ending shielding the vulnerable and elderly had in place from government. Are they now going to put that back in place, FOR those who WANT it to be and/ or NEED it. the vulnerable need to be shielded if they want to keep the hospitalisations and deaths under control. To me it seems so obvious. It doesn't matter what the young are doing if the vulnerable are shielded properly

The panic buying...
...I was at tesco two days ago and I ****ing KNEWE it was suspicious that there were no Heinz Baked Beans! They're usually in a massive "stack" because they don't come in multipacks any more, and the space where that stack lives was a big empty space. I was like "lol reminds me of when everyone was panic buying toilet roll, beans and pasta". Turns out someone probably DID panic buy all the damn beans . |
