As it says in the title and for whatever reason (e.g., purposeful fasting for different reasons, illness, unfortunate lack of funds).

Round about 24 hours.
At Uni. There were times energy kind of took over so food was not a priority until I got through a difficult day, of which there were a few. Drank lots of water though. Last edited by joeysteele; 27-10-2020 at 09:05 PM. |

Whenever I've had one of those wicked bad stomach bugs, there's been two or three times where they were severe to the point where you'd have to avoid eating for 24 hours. That's my record - with nothing close either because I take a lot of pride in eating, and it's one of the main things in life that should never be taken for granted

Skipping lunch isn’t “a substantial no. of hours.”

4 days but it was due to a horrendous stomach bug. The first 2 days I didn't leave bed and thought I was dying, the next 2 I was tentatively up and about but couldn't face food. For a while after it was little bits of very plain things as the thought of eating was still making me feel really ill. In total it was probably at least 10 days from the start of the bug to eating a "proper meal" again.
When I say thought I was dying I'm not even exaggerating - I collapsed in the hall on the way to the bathroom at one point and ended up badly dehydrated stuck in bed. It was when I was in a Uni shared house, I had to beg one of my housemates on MSN Messenger to go and get me a supply of electrolyte/sugary drinks and I think he saved my life . |

Oh, I also went 3 weeks on nothing but one meal of rice a day, spiced up a couple of times a week with some chicken/mince/onions/peppers. Due to a combination of Uni holidays, delay in student loan, and family issues I ended up living alone in my 2nd year uni flat for a month before term started, with £20 and a handful of change to last 30+ days.
So I didn't go a full day without food but it's by far the hungriest I've been in my life . I ate like an absolute pig the week my student loan came through. |

POW! BLAM!
|
I've had to be Nil By Mouth prior to surgery.
10pm it started, and by 11am I was begging them to anaesthetise me early so I didn't have to suffer through the hunger Apparently when I woke up when it was done I immediately asked for a sandwich! |
