Default Iran's top Nuclear scientist, assassinated near Tehran

Reports are saying it was Israel?

[Iran's most senior nuclear scientist
Mohsen Fakhrizadeh has been assassinated near
the capital Tehran, the country's defence ministry
has confirmed.
Fakhrizadeh died in hospital after
an attack in Absard, in Damavand county.

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif,
has condemned the killing "as an act of state terror".
Western intelligence agencies believe Fakhrizadeh
was behind a covert Iranian nuclear weapons programme.
"If Iran ever chose to weaponise (enrichment),
Fakhrizadeh would be known as the father of the Iranian bomb,"
one Western diplomat told Reuters news agency in 2014.

Iran insists its nuclear programme is exclusively
for peaceful purposes.
But news of the killing comes amid fresh
concern about the increased amount of
enriched uranium that the country is producing.
Enriched uranium is a vital component for
both civil nuclear power generation and military nuclear weapons.]

I think the US are behind this, trying to make sure Iran don't rejoin the agreement after Trump leaves and Biden wants to get things back on track.

No Way
its more like Israel paying off killers to do this.

[Israel has long cited its enemy’s pledges to destroy it.
It says, often without specifics, that it has the right
to defend itself by blocking Iran from becoming a military nuclear power.
The country’s foreign intelligence agency, Mossad, has a record
of using targeted assassinations.]

Not really. If anything, it's an attempt to push them closer to obtaining them, so they can be Iraq'd.

Maybe Israels neighbours need to be viewed as having the right to defend themselves, too.

They are taking responsibility. They entered into an agreement with the us to stop producing weapons grade plutonium. All inspections said they were keeping their word. then trump came in and tore up the agreement because it was an obama achievement. Iran started up again, because they need to protect themselves, and they had their scientist murdered because others refused to keep their words towards them.

Iran have done nothing wrong.

whoever did it was trying to stir up trouble. Israel and America are the most likely culprits, but Russia have a lot to gain by stirring it up, so I wouldn't count them out either

IRAN 2019
The authorities heavily suppressed the rights to freedom of expression, association and assembly. Security forces used lethal force unlawfully to crush protests, killing hundreds, and arbitrarily detaining thousands of protesters. The authorities arbitrarily detained over 200 human rights defenders and imposed sentences of imprisonment and flogging against many of them. A new law allowed Iranian women married to men with foreign nationality to pass on Iranian citizenship to their children, but women continued to face discrimination and the authorities intensified their crackdown against women’s rights defenders campaigning against forced veiling laws. Ethnic and religious minorities faced entrenched discrimination. Torture and other ill-treatment, including through the denial of medical care, remained widespread and systematic; they were committed with impunity. Cruel, inhuman and degrading judicial punishments were carried out. Scores of people were executed, sometimes in public; several were under the age of 18 at the time of the crime. There were systematic violations of fair trial rights. The authorities committed the ongoing crime against humanity of enforced disappearance by systematically concealing the fate and whereabouts of several thousand political dissidents extrajudicially executed in secret in the 1980s.

[How Mossad executed Iran's nuclear chief:
Power to entire region was cut as his convoy was
ambushed with huge bomb, snipers and gunmen
on motorbikes before he was dragged from
car and finished off... and then assassins melted away]

[An Iranian nuclear scientist was assassinated
by a remote-controlled machine gun mounted on a car,
the country's semi-official Fars news agency has reported.

Al Alam, Iranian state TV's Arabic language channel,
has made a similar claim stating
that weapons "controlled by satellite" were used in
the killing of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh on Friday.

However the channel has not said what type
of weapons were used.]
