Nobody has ever eaten a scotch egg at home, Annie. It's more something that happens to you than a conscious choice.

I hate to be a Debbie downer and temper things, I know all news is good news, but it is important to remember that they have doses for less than 10% of the population and also it will take time (and two doses spaced weeks apart) to take effect... So in short, still don't expect to see much improvement in the numbers or "lockdown/tiers" situation until February or March, and it won't be anywhere close to normality until summer at the very earliest - with issues in winter 2021 still being a very real possibility.

I think it's good news but the good news headlines will have unintended consequences in terms of people bothering to take it seriously any more.

Of course, it will take time to vaccinate everyone.
But at least now we have hope

I volunteer to go to the back of the queue. I'm happy to wait 5 years, see what happens to the human guiena pigs first.

...I think that for most people, TS...remembering is most definitely there in the forefront because we’ve all lived this year...we all know that this is a very small step on a very long journey....and for many people still to come, that ‘journey end’ will sadly never be reached...but just as it’s always been important to acknowledge COVID in its devastation...it’s also important to acknowledge this step of hope...(...as Vanessa puts it...)...which we could only have hoped for a few short months ago....

...Vanessa......and the only thing that I can say about your illness...?..is that you’re such one of the most positive and hope-filled people and the strength of that and the person you are will be something that will be with you in every life step.....

I think it will have the opposite effect in all honesty, many people will say actually we are not going to risk Christmas as the likelihood is many of the very vulnerable will be vaccinated by Easter

Exiting times yet scary times ....

I just wish these kinds of issues / decisions were handled by super intelligent people / medics/ microbiologists/ entrepreneurs

In fact I wish we had a kind of Brains Trust in charge of the country instead of useless politicians ( all parties included )

I agree, and it's been proved that China liked about the stats.
So now I'm skeptical.

Yes I tend to agree ... we seem to have had quite a few false dawns already ..

There was an ‘expert’ on Sky News earlier who was upbeat about the Covid crisis and the vaccines but even he said that if could take TEN years before we will be back to normal (but with a greater understanding of vaccines)

TEN YEARS fgs

I just don’t get how they can give any vaccine the clearance / approval so very soon ... if we ignore everything else how can they be CERTAIN there will not be any LONG TERM side effects .. they usually take 7 years to get to this stage apparently
