Default Two seriously injured after stabbing inside M&S store in Burnley...

Two people have been stabbed in a Marks & Spencer store as England’s high streets returned to business following the coronavirus lockdown.

Officers and ambulance staff were sent to the scene in St James Street, Burnley, on Wednesday morning.

The victims’ injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

Officers arrested a man who remains in police custody.

A cordon has been set up and footage shows a large crowd standing nearby, though police have urged the public to avoid the area.

Lancashire Police said no-one else is believed to have been involved in the incident, but has asked for people with information to come forward.

Marks & Spencer stores could stay open during the lockdown. Crowds have been pictured returning to high streets as non-essential shops were allowed to reopen on “Wild Wednesday” morning.

A force spokesman said: “We are currently dealing with an incident at Marks & Spencer in Burnley where two people have received stab injuries.

“Their injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening. One man has been arrested and is in custody at this stage.

“Nobody else is thought to be involved.

“A cordon is in place and we would ask people to avoid the area.”

It's a bit classist to downplay and make fun of a knife attack just because it happened in a nice shop

I'm not .. it's just a bit of black humour based on their superior Christmas food.

Calm down.
