https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/deta...-2020-schedule

No data from Scotland or Northern Ireland

Today 210 have Died
Total deaths 70,405

Today 34,693 have got Covid-19

Patients in hospital
Latest available
21,286

Patients on ventilation
Latest available
1,529

https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/

Additional Data :Covid-19 / UK Variant has spread to
France
Sweden
Switzerland
Spain
Italy
Ireland
Canada
Netherlands

From BBC:
[Three things are coming together that
mean the new variant is attracting attention:

It is rapidly replacing other versions of the virus
It has mutations that affect part of the virus likely to be important
Some of those mutations have already been shown
in the lab to increase the ability of the virus to infect cells.

All of these build a case for a virus that can spread more easily,
says the BBC's health and science correspondent, James Gallagher.

However, there is no evidence that the new variant is more lethal,
and the leading vaccines developed in recent months
should still work, experts say.]

i'm not so sure. It has a protection rate something like 60%+, and i'm going to refuse it if there is one that is 95%+

Is that the Mirror? They were peddling no deal last week, bringing politics into health issues should be criminalised

I heard that they were considering giving as many as possible ONE dose to try and but some time and give them all ‘some’ protection and worry about the second dose later on ...

Some are calling for it, the government are not considering it

Personally I think do the job the right way, I presume in the trials the second shot was given 3 weeks after the first, so tinkering with that would be madness as there is no data on delaying the second jab?

no, there were examples where that occured but that could be explained by the group it was given to were also all younger. The data states 60-90% ... that is the factual result, and as such, I won't be taking it when there is a vaccine that offers 95% protection without caveat.

Plus this morning on the radio I heard that the army will be going into schools on January to show teachers how to administer the vaccines !!!

Surely not !?!?

Doesn't work like that; yes one dose of a vaccine can give some protection, but if you miss the "window" for the second dose you have to start over... you can't just "worry about it later" and take it whenever. I guess they might mean give one dose to bring down case numbers and then totally restart with "proper" vaccination later, but that would be a massive waste of MILLIONS of doses which seems utterly immoral given that there are many countries out there that aren't going to be able to vaccinate at all.
