I’d agree ... plus close schools completely..

A proper lockdown maybe needed just to buy us some time ..

I witnessed 20 ambulances standing outside a hospital in west London today....I thought, Corona..look rob, I said..trying to tell us it's all Corona down here, and they are all just munching bacon rolls waiting on a call.

I'm sickened to the core to find out tonight that they were corona patients being treated in the ambulances because of lack of beds.

I don't think they do if you've seen the recent yougov polling on voting intentions.

Even in these threads we have people telling us that no one could have done things differently and it's all a big, unfair attack on Boris.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has urged people to stay at home for Hogmanay as Scotland recorded a further seven coronavirus deaths since Christmas and the highest daily number of cases since the pandemic began.

The latest figures show that seven Covid-19 deaths were recorded between December 25 and 29, though the Scottish Government noted that register offices have been closed over the public holidays.

It brings the death toll under this measure – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – to 4,467.

The number of cases continued to rise, with 1,895 new cases of Covid-19 reported on Tuesday December 29 – the highest daily number recorded.

The latest statistics show 122,786 people have now tested positive in Scotland, up from 120,891 the previous day.

Ms Sturgeon has warned people against partying indoors with other households at Hogmanay and she cautioned that more restrictions could be needed in Scotland.

They reported similar last night on the radio .. the people taking all the emergency phone calls are already having to make life and death decisions as to WHO is lucky enough to get the ambulance sent out for them ..

It ****ing boggles the mind how absolutely sluggish the government is to act toward this ****, we should be COMPLETELY LOCKING DOWN today, no ****ing pissing about waiting for tomorrow, that number of infections is absolutely insane, hospitals are packed and hundreds of people are dying. This government has been absolutely, unforgivably **** in the speed of their reactions.

No, 1895 and you'd have to add up the last 19 days to get anything close to 20,000. Really ridiculous misinformation Arista.

The first person in the world to be given the Pfizer Covid-19 jab as part of a mass vaccination programme has received a second dose.

Margaret Keenan was given the follow-up vaccine at University Hospital in Coventry earlier - three weeks after the first.

The hospital's chief executive Andy Hardy said the hospital was "delighted" to welcome Margaret back.

For the real figures; today for Scotland was 1895 reported new cases, however they were low the previous two days so probably under-reported, 3-day average is 1200/day. It's up around 20% on the same days the previous week, so not great, but not the 2000% increase arista was suggesting .

Hopefully they will monitor her immunity levels and let us know the honest results ..

Oddly TalkSport reported she’d had her second jab today and was at home recovering !?!?

Kinda odd choice of words tbh

Not really, vaccines produce an immune response which means potentially feeling a bit off/feverish/aching joints etc. and those things will be far more pronounced in elderly people. I think a lot of people over 70 should plan a couple of day's rest after getting jabbed.
