In places where weed is legalised, people tend to opt to buy it through the official channels, thus eating into the profits of criminal elements. You'd get more prostitutes out of the game by legalising and legitimising prostitution then you would through most other methods. The quickest way to take control of something is to legalise it.

I'm not saying it's a neat little problem that can be solved and wrapped up with a neat little bow but you can't really deny that legalising it and regulating it would weaken pimps and smugglers in this country.

Well it hasn't done places like Thailand much harm.
