Default Cameron earns 100k and speaks 4 languages

Well if this story is to be believed, Jon was right when he said he was no simple guy from the back woods who guts fish. So was the Forest Gump impersonation a con, it will all come out in the wash in time. True or not.

I had a feeling that Cameron was more than a simple fish traderbut oh my god I had no idea it was anything like thatmaybe this was why Jon was different towards him when he went back in no wonder

I believe the article is indeed factual, as Jon exposed his secrets to other HM's. I'm sure Jon did his homework, he wouldn't of done so without acquiring evidence beforehand.

The public's perception of Cameron based upon his character and what he said in the house, which that he was a 'simple, honest guy from a small fishing village in the Orkneys'. Cameron instead chose to play a game by deliberately misleading the public and his fellow HM's to go as far as he could.

And if the information regarding Cameron's real profession and other facts been made to the public well before the final outcome of the show, would this have changed their perceptions towards him and stopped him from winning?

John did say all this, but everyone thought it was just sour grapes, bet Ray's fuming.

Cameron was on GMTV this morning, while the rest were on Rise, wonder if he'll be on RISE tomorrow

It just means that Cameron has played a very good game. Good for him.

If I had known this I would have still wanted him to win over any of the other final four.

This has been the point, no-one would believe he was playing the game, just his true self. Not simple sweet Cameron
I have no prob with any of them playing the game, as that is what it is after all and good on him.

Well, I've done a bit of searching, and the languages and work abroad bit is true. he does spend months in the US each year. Can't confirm the salary, but I suspect he earns a lot more than Ł10,000 cc!

True or false I don't think it matters a jot. He played the game better than Jon much to Jon's annoyance. If he fooled the public then he is a deserving winner for having such skill. If he is a genuine "simple type guy" then he still deseves to win. After all the only real contender with character left in there was Ray.

An article in his local newspaper confirms the information

The Orcadian Article

quote.

The export studies graduate speaks fluent French and Spanish, Japanese and Norwegian. After graduating from Napier University in Edinburgh in 1992, he lived in Lyons, France, for a year, working as an assistant curator in an art gallery.

He then moved to Seville, Spain, where he taught English to children. In 1995 he moved back to Orkney and took up a job at Orkney Salmon, before moving to his current job buying and selling fish for the company North Landing, which sees him split his time between Orkney and the United States of America.

I wonder if his brother who is a TV presenter on the regional ITV channel STV will be getting to interview him.

Cameron always said he was a fish trader and travelled the world with his job. Now to me that doesnt sound like a simple Orkney fisherman.

I think Cameron is someone who put him in the business world where he is trained to deal with people of all types he is a confident, successful businessman. But put him in a social environment and I think you get the Cameron you saw in the house. A shy person around people he doesnt know. The successful game he played was to make the others feel he was insignificant and not a serious contender. No more than Scott did who was so bland that he nearly faded into the background.

I never once said I was from a 'small fishing village in the Orkneys' - I would never describe my home town that way.

And dare I say it - I did not choose to "play a game" either.

People who had cared to listen would have known what I did for a living - BusyBee seems to have paid attention. I must say though that I think a lot of the misrepresentation of what I did for a living came via some of the press, not via the programme.

And don't think I'm getting at you directly, AndyJK; it's just that this is an area that bugs me loads.

Just out of interest though, do you speak four languages? and don't count Scots and English as being two of them.

I did French and Spanish as part of my degree, I did two years of Italian classes and I went to school in Norway when I was 14 or 15 or so. And I got my sign language certificate last year and am starting to learn Hungarian lol.

That's six languages then or ten if you count the so called others, or twelve if you count Scot's and English. mind you Orkney's got a laungauge of it's own as well.

Not sure about your counting there, steve_o! You're almost right about Orkney though - there are dialects and strong accents that might be hard for non-native Orcadians to pick up or understand. I wouldn't say we quite have our own language .
