HOWEVER - yes - from videos I've seen it's not just poor framerates and graphical glitches... there are incidents where world assets don't load in (usually while driving_ and people simply fall through the bottom of the map, tumbling forever into an endless void . I think the tl;dr of it is that the game was built for SSD loading times and the older consoles don't have 'em ... the PC version installation actually came with a little "highly recommended" warning tag for installing to an SSD. Luckily I got an an m.2 nVME back in the summer (the "super fast SSDs" that the new consoles use). I think the sad reality is that it's borderline unplayable on old tech. I know some people are fine with it on PS4 Pro and One X but even then I hear it runs at 30fps with framerate drops into the low 20's... I know some people don't mind that but yeah... I am one of those people who wouldn't be able to play at that. I wouldn't refund, to be fair - but I'd be shelving it until the PS5. It's a damn shame because having now got it running extremely well at a solid 60fps (static res scaling was the KEY guys ) - it is an absolutely brilliant game. I think in a couple of years it'll be widely hailed as a masterpiece. But the technical issues are a disaster, they really are... it was unplayable on my PC when I first booted it up and took 3 hours of tinkering to get it running "ok" and then literally a week of stopping, thinking and tweaking settings to get it looking genuinely impressive. I am a massive tech geek so I actually really enjoyed that - it made me nostalgic, took me back to the 90's and spending all day trying to get drivers to load up properly to run games in MS Dos with sounds and mouse working properly... you got it working and felt like you had "won" ... but I am surely in the minority in enjoying the tinkering. Most people will find it frustrating at best, and many will simply give up on it as a lost cause. Basically... the game only works acceptable "out of the box" on next gen consoles, and RTX30-series card on PC... ... with the double-whammy being that no one can buy those even if they want to right now. Console launch has been a disaster and no one has been able to get an RTX (without paying double to an eBay scalper) since about a week after they launched in like September . If the game only works (well) out the box for what... maybe 10% of players... they really have no choice but to offer refunds. I have faith that they will fix it though and that eventually the game itself will shine through. Last edited by Toy Soldier; 18-12-2020 at 09:07 AM. |

Hmm, if thats the case I can see last gen aging a lot more rapidly than the PS3 gen did

I think it may well be what's caused all of the Cyberpunk delays. I reckon they've been developing on SSDs and possibly that the console dev machines they've been playing on for most of the development have had them, and then they've moved on to testing on retail consoles and been like "Oh... oh **** guys... it doesn't work without an SSD" and they've been scrabbling around and delaying to get it to run acceptably, when the reality may be that it just... doesn't. I dunno how they can fix it without massively compressing the textures and assets which will make the game look like COD on the 360 or something. I dunno. It's a gorgeous game when it's running properly but good looking games running in potato mode actually look WORSE than games that were designed to run on old hardware. CDPR is primarily a PC developer... they are relative n00bs to console dev. So yeah I reckon they've developed to "default SSD" and it's burned them. I guess compare to something like TLOU2 - with Naughty Dog being a seasoned console focussed developer. All of that said - I think it will be less of an issue once this gen is in full swing, console tech is pretty much just specialised PC tech at this point. It shouldn't have been released if it wasn't working on base consoles. I'm enjoying it a lot since I've encountered nothing I wouldn't see in an Elder Scrolls game in terms of bugs, but I do feel bad for people who don't have access to Pros or next gen. It's genuinely quite scummy of CD to do what they've done here.

I guess they could even have released a "Pro/One X only" digital version with a clear caveat that it's only for enthusiasts who can't wait, and isn't the intended experience. I think they were also slightly dishonest about the PC requirements too because looking at what they're advertising as "minimum"... I can't see it running on that hardware even on rock bottom settings and having a properly playable framerate. You really need 60fps for keyboard and mouse gameplay. Locked at 30 would probably be OK if you used a controller but no PC gamer wants to play a first person game with a controller... Realistic requirements for this are GTX1070 for minimum, GTX1080Ti for recommended/high at 1080p (what I'm running currently) and for ultra settings/ANYTHING at 4k or even 1440p you need an RTX card (so a 2019/2020 graphics card). That's not what their system requirements blurb says and it does seem a little disappointingly dishonest. All of that said; I guess people have short memories because Witcher 3 was a tough game to run on release-era hardware as well, and Witcher 2 was even worse (I remember NO ONE being able to run it at the time with Godrays turned on ). I guess CDPR have a habit of releasing games that people have to run on medium settings and you only get to see "in their full glory" a couple of years post release. Everyone will be running Cyberpunk on Ultra settings at 4k no problem, and bug-free, probably with a tonne of DLC and extra content... In like 2022. I wish I had the willpower to wait for such things but I just don't, haha. Last edited by Toy Soldier; 18-12-2020 at 07:07 PM. |

Honestly I've had very few bugs... nothing major either. I did have an odd glitch last night where my heath bar just totally disappeared... but I played on for ages just judging my health based on the screen effects . It was back where it belongs on reloading the game anyway. There are a few minor things that need polishing (like one of the Delamain cars crashing into a shed and a full 3 seconds passing before the shed was smashed ). I dunno. I reckon anyone who has extensively played Elder Scrolls/Bethesda Fallout couldn't possibly be bothered by these relatively minor things... and SURELY that's the audience Cyberpunk is aimed at? Unless a lot of people have gone in expecting a polished on-rails Shooter and now have no idea what they're looking at? |

Yeah, on PS5 I've encountered minimal bugs too. The game is looking a lot sharper and nicer, and the HDR is working much better now

I've only had two major bugs so far, one was a cyberpsycho disappearing into the ground so I couldn't beat her and the other was in the hotel mission where a guard i needed to kill disappeared out of bounds.
The rest has just been minor visual bugs really. |

I did ALMOST have a similar issue with a kill-for-quest-required NPC glitching through the floor, but luckily his head kept clipping just slightly through the floor every few seconds so I could shoot it . Obviously couldn't loot whatever he was carrying and I think it was purple, so that was a little annoying, but at least he only needed to die for the quest to end.

I’m level 20 intelligence and i’ve almost maxed out the quickhack skill tree but it’s lowkey boring me coz i have epic quickhacks so i literally just have to open the scanner and use either overheat/contagion/short circuit on enemies and they’re out in seconds
Plus most of the time you can do it from stealth so i’m undetected like i’m basically unstoppable and i’m playing on hard but there’s no difficulty whatsoever so i think i’m gonna start using mantis blades I say there’s no difficulty but i’ve only been doing side gigs marked as moderate danger or below, like 50% of the map is stuffed full of side gigs with very high danger |

Honestly don’t believe some of these glitches and bugs im seeing online. I’ve only had the odd bug which is far from game breaking or anything and the game only ever crashes on me once. Maybe I’m just lucky.
My main disappointment is the graphic downgrade from what it looked like it may be, but that doesn’t take away from the fun gameplay at all.

... There's just the minor issue of hardly anyone having the tech to run those settings, and there being nowhere to buy it even if you have the cash to burn. |

That said, I do think it's a bit disingenuous to advertise a multiplatform game using footage captured on a Ł3000 PC. They should advertise using "console settings" (usually PC "medium").

I accidentally ran into a Very Hard gig without realising yesterday, I shot someone in the face with a sniper rifle and it did nothing, I ran away pretty quickly.

The benefit obviously is that they drop higher-level loot and, while most of it you can't actually use, you can break it all down for those precious parts. Also because the skills system is partially "per use" like Skyrim, I got loads of Blades experience since it took over 50 cuts to down each guy |

brought it got it delivered on release date played it for a few days and haven't gone back to it
just the biggest disappointment i have had video games wise, couldn't be doing with all the glitches and crashes at all, i had one where i was driving on the motorway and just fall through the road and died, driving around for a while as well the map doesn't really seem that creative? like every place looks the same and no identity for different places its just very underwhelming, shame really because i actually like most of the characters in the early parts i played.

I have to admit I've more or less decided to shelve it for a while. I like it, I haven't had any major bugs or glitches really but I just get the very strong impression that it's going to be a much better game in a year+. Not just in having the hardware to run it on higher settings, but I suspect once they've fixed the basics there are going to be some major gameplay/AI tweaks as well, and most likely story DLC... And as I just don't have the time to play a game through more than once these days... I feel like reluctant patience is the right move here.

I completed it. Despite the bugs, it's a solid 8/10, and when they actually get it in a working state for all platforms and iron out those bugs, it'll probably be a classic.
It does have issues aside from the bugs though, you can really feel, while playing, that there's a lot that's been cut from the game. The main story reaches an abrupt conclusion, like I was shocked when I reached the point of no return since I thought I had hours of story left and other optional storylines seem to fizzle out with no pay-off, but still, it's a pretty damn good game, and one I'll probably play again once the PS5 upgrade is out and the game is fixed. |

Only real issue with the story I have is that the whole montage thing with Jackie should have been playable to some extent. As a Nomad it felt like I suddenly went from being completely new to the city, to having these connections. Definitely should have been more T Bug/Jackie misssions and gigs.
