My new years eve nickname as a kid was gangadin cause I was the wee boy carrying the whiskey and cans for my dad, and his pal, who i called uncle dave.

The look on my biology teachers face as we all walked in in my first year at high school was a sight to behold.

My dad and his dad were neighbours so it ended up a traditional thing...something to do with being in the war together or something.

Michael Bates was fantastic as Bearer, but Michael sadly passed away after series 5. It was a huge character for the show to lose, but they went on for further 4 series after his death.
