Default The pres of campaign for France to leave the EU says Vaccine rollout is a shambles..

The president of the campaign for France to leave the EU says the European Commission's "terrible" vaccine rollout management is the best advert for Frexit.

Should France leave?

Fortunately for the French, they've watched the disaster over here, and they haven't had Murdoch ramming bendy bananas down their throats for 20 years. The EU is extremely popular in France, so won't be happening anytime soon.

No it isn't. Brexit had nothing to do with procurement of the vaccine. Ask bots, as he tried to insinuate this, too.

The eu would have slowed down our vacc process, probably brought on by pure jealousy that we are and always will be one step ahead of them.

There’s no way looking at that graph that that can be true, the U.K. is literally treble/quadruple all EU countries... unless the U.K. government really is that good/organised... The EU definitely slowed down the procurement

It's amazing what is and isn't true if you don't fall for confirmation bias. Forgive me, as the scientist I don't need to explain that to you.

Isn’t the french rollout going poorly because so many french people are sceptical of the virus too?

There are a few factors, but the EU have definitely done a poor job overall. Member states had the ability to go and get their own, though, so brexit EU had zero affect on the fact that our gov has so far done a decent job.

We slip quite a way down the tables when it comes to numbers who've received their 2nd jabs as well, and that's where my fear comes in.

Yes because that’s impacted the difference of 10M vaccinations between France and England

That would not have a big impact at all as they’d offer the vaccines elsewhere, also the elderly have the largest uptake and so uptake issues sill not take large prevalence at the beginning of the vaccine rollout... data suggests this..

Well you clearly are unable to understand data, as a world leading scientist I work with analysing data everyday and the data speaks for itself

the fact you are implying being part of the EU has no impact is certainly worrying, I would believe infact you are falling for confirmation bias.... because I am just going off numbers and factual infomation that is out there rather than rumours..

What kind of logic is this? I'm not really that bothered about what does/doesn't worry you, I was just correcting the nonsense that brexit is responsible for us getting the vaccine. There is absolutely nothing about that in the chart (even if the premise was true - spoiler alert, it isn't), which is the origin of the discussion.

Correlation is not causation - anyone that has to analyse data in any field should be more than aware of this fact, and again I apologise for pointing this out to a scientist of any level.

When you start a sentence with "looking at that graph, there's no way that can be true," it not only proves your confirmation bias, but it also shows that you don't really understand what it means when you try and throw it back on me, just based on nothing but the scientific theory of "I know you are, but what am I?".

I even said in my reply to Smithy, that the EU had done a poor job and we'd done a decent job, so I'm not sure where you want to go with this as that sort of removes the bias you're implying I'm holding.

I pity anyone who believes that Brexit has been a good thing, they simply have lost touch with reality and have chosen to lick the boots of Tories rather than acknowledge that those same tories told them lies and they didn't even question it. To acknowledge Brexit as a failure is to acknowledge that they have failed by supporting it while being ignorant to the reality of it all and people's egos are far too fragile for them to have the capacity of that kind of self reflection.

Anti-EU agenda by the british, how not surpising

i don't trust the vaccines so far, my mom doesn't trust the vaccines either, when we read about nasty side effects

also more worrying is UK's how many 16 or 17 million vaccinations done, hope you got enough jabs for their second dose, and hope you guys are aware you have to do this every year now, same as a normal flu jab, sooo i hope you guys indeed have enough doses in storage

also your precious oxford/AZ vaccine only 55% effectiveness so far not enough guarantee that one actually will help, and UK's government just vaccinated millions of people with that garbage nevertheless of what the numbers were saying

also AZ doesn't seem to have much effect in the 55 or older age groups, bc of terrible side effects

my point first look at yourselves, then look at other countries (and i know my own country NL made lot of mistakes but therefore i won't be negative on other EU countries their approach at the coronacrisis)

Boris now suddenly getting praise for vaccinating millions when that might've not been good

What terrible side effects have you read about Nicky? I know lots of people who have had the vaccine now and their side effects have ranged from nothing at best to a sore arm and headachy at worse

The alternative of getting Covid is shortness of breath, hospitalisation and possible death...I can't believe the side effects of the vaccine are worse than that

headaches, sore arm ummm those are the least bad symptoms

compared to getting fevers, nausea, breathing problems

also i'm not a anti-vaxxer, my mom isn't either but we read more negatives on the vaccines than positives, also quite some who after vaccination got the virus and also very badly, and quite some who died after the vaccination

So much of this is inaccurate Nicky but I don't have time so I'll just pick up one;

If vaccination is needed every year it will be for new emerging strains, so would be a new vaccine... storing doses of the current ones to use in future would be pointless.
