I'm playing Immortals: Fenyx Rising and honestly it has so many gameplay features taken directly from Breath Of The Wild, I'm surprised no one has sued . I mean it's not coincidence... some of them are really, really blatant .

HOWEVER

I'm actually really enjoying it. It's extremely light-hearted and easy to pick up/put down, the gameplay mechanics are tight as a drum and fun, and I actually really enjoy the silly "narration" from Zeus and Prometheus. Having a lot of fun with it... more than I did with BOTW to be totally honest.

... but seriously, there are even little side-dungeons where you have to solve environmental/physics-based puzzles for upgrades, and the climbing/stamina mechanic is IDENTICAL. How did they get away with this?

Sonic Generations.

This franchise is always a guilty pleasure of mine, and Generations is always one of my favourite Sonic Games so it's been great to replay it again.

Been playing Black Ops Cold War a lot because of the Season 2 update and the zombies mode is pretty cool. I like how they integrated zombies into Warzone as well it’s just a shame that the Battle Pass rewards are a bit crap.

Finished AC Valhalla a week back. It's far from perfect and a buggy, glitchy mess at times, but I loved every minute of it. Over 100hrs into the base game, and with a DLC focusing on Druids and Ireland out on the 29th of April promising another 40hrs, with a siege of Paris DLC out before the end of the year to come, could be looking at 250 hours before it's 2 year life cycle has ended.

I downloaded this on PC (free with Ubi+ subscription) but haven't started... might get it on PS5 instead now, cos trophies. Also reckon it'll look nicer on the big telleh. Actually I'll probably switch to PS5 for most third-person stuff for the time being. First-person and strategy still PC obvz.

I think those on PC have generally had more game breaking issues so the 5 would def be a good idea.

I find the assassin’s creed games so soulless and boring

Like the setting is gorgeous the gameplay is fun but the story is garbage

Well they've pretty much done away with the story altogether for this one. It's not really an AC game - it's a viking RPG. The only link to AC is that you have one living in you settlement who gives you targets to kill and some pretty cool rewards for doing so.

I bought the massive collectors edition from the store as it was on sale, purely on the back of Valhalla. I still have origins in cellophane that I'm also going to crack on with.

I just finished Origins in January - a great game. Loved the Egyptian era.

Started AC Valhalla, and just like with Fenyx Rising I had to remap the damn controller almost straight away! Stop it Ubisoft what are you doing! Attacks on R1 and R2 is just an awful control scheme. I’m playing in Hard and was getting my arse handed to me until I switched Light and Heavy to Circle and Triangle. Just hoping it doesn’t result in clashes further into the game.

I have over 300h on Skyrim and have actually never finished the main quest . Though I have played through Dawnguard.

There’s no excuse either I’ve had characters at 80+ that were basically invincible and could have finished the main quest in a couple of hours. I just... never did it

Fenyx is a spin off of AC odyssey, made by the same teams.

You'll need to stick with it on hard, otherwise it does gets really easy, and after a while, any sense of danger is pretty much removed bar some of the ancient order/zealots/daughters of lerion boss fights.

What have you done with the L1 attacks/defence?

Yeah I switched it to default for that very first boss-ish fight in the longhouse (the guy that has your daddy’s axe) and it totally changed the fight - on hard it was playing like a tutorial for how to block, dodge and parry and on regular... you didn’t have to do any of that it was just hammering the attack button until he died. Boring. That was when I switched the controls to something resembling what I did with Fenyx and reloaded and all has been well since then.

I left L1 alone strangely enough, that hasn’t been a problem. IIRC in Fenyx I still have Parry on L1 + R1 and it’s worked well. I do actually need to finish that game too, I was like 75% complete and maxed out character but I got bogged down on one of the puzzles and quit, was trying to complete each area 100% one by one but I might go back to it and finish the main quest line. I found it pretty entertaining - much more irreverent than the AC series, Zeus’ voiceover commentary steals the show.

Default What game/s are you currently playing?

So... because I have Ubi+ on the PC (which gives you the ultimate versions of all Ubisoft games) aaand apparently, Ubisoft Connect cloud saves mean you can load up the same saves on multiple devices... what happens if I load up my normal edition PS5 Valhalla save on the PC version, get all the bonus items etc. from the ultimate edish, save again then reload on PS5? Do I get to keep the stuff? Hmmmmm I shall keep you posted on this fascinating quest.

As an update on this: It let me continue my save on the PC totally fine, I got all the fun "ultimate edition" gear and stuff... but it wouldn't let me continue from that save on the PS5 . And now it won't let me cloud save AT ALL on PS5 . Luckily I only had a poke around to look at the graphics differences and look at the gear (which I now can't have!) for 5 mins.

In other news it runs (significantly) better on PS5 than my PC which makes me sort of sad. It's the first time it's really felt obvious that the unavailability of the RTX 30 series cards is becoming an issue. The GTX1080 I have can't handle next (current) gen graphics and I think PC gaming is going to be pretty much obsolete for the time being for those of us who can't get a decent card.

It's even worse than the console shortage - there's the same problems with scalpers, and component supply line issues, but also on top of that there's the damn bitcoin miners .

I do want to play Spider-Man MM but I don’t know if it justifies full price... and I strongly suspect it’ll be a PS+ game at some point so I’m just going to wait.

Just finished the AC Valhalla first DLC - wrath of the druids.

I was disappointed with it, as it was just more of the same from the base game.

I did like the location of Ireland, and the fact it was based around Irish mythology, but jeez. I just spent 100 hrs finishing the main game at least give me something different to do.

Had to kill this little minx though

Rockstar tweeted they'll be doing something to celebrate 20 years since GTA 3 'changed the game' pun intended

I'll be interested to see what.
