Really the whole shambles just highlights that the canal was built in the mid-1800's and not really designed with these insanely gargantuan freight ships in mind. I know there have been various "widening" projects in the past but maybe time to think about modernisation on a larger scale? Basically the entire world uses it and cuts sea trade journey time down significantly (and thus makes massive savings) using the Suez, so it's something that could (and should) be an international effort.
