Sadly not really an option in the Uk ...

Imagine doing Shakespeare one afternoon amidst the hail and sleet whilst being abused by a hoard of abusive teenagers ... then a nappy floats past .

Netherlands: summarizing our press conference of last night now

''The Dutch government has no plans to change its decision to stop giving the AstraZeneca vaccine to people under the age of 60, health minister Hugo de Jonge told reporters on Tuesday evening.

In addition, it is still too early to say what the impact of Johnson & Johnson’s decision to halt deliveries of its Leiden-developed vaccine to Europe will be, De Jonge said. The European Medicines Agency is due to make a statement on the situation on Wednesday.

The much criticized decision to stop using the AstraZeneca vaccine decision on the under-60s because of the risks remains in place, De Jonge said. ‘There are sufficient alternatives,’ De Jonge said, although he admitted that the decision by J&J may change that situation.

De Jonge and prime minister Mark Rutte outlined the government’s five point plan to reopen society, following the news last weekend that leaks about an April 21 deadline to reopen pavement cafes and scrap the curfew would not become a reality.

‘We all have our own Covid reality,’ Rutte said. ‘We are losing patience, we are more emotional and we are finding it harder to stick to the rules.’

Nevertheless, Rutte said, the main relaity is that the end is in sight. The first step in opening up society up again will be taken once we are over the peak of the current surge, he said. The April 21 date is too soon, he said. ‘We are looking at the figures on a weekly basis and we will decide on April 20 if measures can be taken on April 28.’

The first step, Rutte said, involves lifting the curfew, reopening pavement cafes and allowing people to welcome more than one visitor.

The second step will see amusement parks, swimming pools and sports schools reopening. The ministers did not go into what the 3rd, 4th and 5th stages would involve.

Not set in stone

The date of April 28 is not set in stone, Rutte said. ‘We cannot take the risk that we create an impossible situation in hospitals,’ he said. ‘We are going to look at what we can do on a weekly basis.’

As a start, after school clubs will be able to reopen their doors from April 19 and if things progress as hoped, universities will be able to hold face-to-face lessons from April 26. However, that decision will be taken next Tuesday.

‘We cannot take the risk that we create an impossible situation in hospitals,’ Rutte said. ‘We are going to look at developments from one week to the next.’

Netherlands: Kings Day 2021 will still go through, coronaproof

Radio 538 Kings Day Festival will be one of those FieldLab test events, so again only access with negative test (the biggest test event so far that will be, 10.000 people although outdoors)

King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima will still go to Eindhoven but no real tour through the city but a virtual one at our university High Tech Campus, and only the main royal family members so Willem, Maxima and Amalia, Ariane (Alexia not sure if she can attend since she is studying in Wales at this moment), and this will still be shown on TV Live here unlike last year when we only had highlights of past kings and queens days

+ elderly channel here (MAX) has its own aftertalk show with some music, royal watchers, celebs whom are royal superfans

just nice to report this hasn't been cancelled unlike last year

Exclamation Quarter of Covid deaths not caused by virus

Almost a quarter of registered Covid deaths are people who are not dying from
the disease, new official figures show, as the Government was urged to move
faster with the roadmap in the light of increasingly positive data.

The latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that 23 per
cent of coronavirus deaths registered are now people who have died "with" the
virus rather than "from" an infection.

I like the way they're doing things.
Nice and steady, but cautious.
Hopefully everything goes well and by July we will have vaccinated eveyone.

This was always going to be the case with the way the deaths are tracked, anyone who dies with covid in their system within 28 days are classed as dying from covid-19, it’s ridiculous

A 100 year old dying of old age might have caught covid and it’ll be written down as covid, just if a asymptimatic young adult who dies in a car accident but had covid without even realising will be classed as a covid-19 death

covid infections are now back to hot spot areas, there are many areas of the country without any covid infections at all. The media won't focus on that though

The Prime Minister's comments suggest to me that they're going to be attempting another lockdown.

He says it was the lockdowns and not the vaccine that is reason for the fall in cases.

Solution? more lockdowns, they're for our own good.

Make the most of the Summer, could be your last day's of freedom.

That seems highly unlikely, given lockdown was in place for ages before numbers actually started falling, and numbers fell steadily as vaccination numbers rose.

Unless they are now claiming nothing would show in the stats until 2 months after a measure was taken? When they have said 3 weeks since the start..if they are now saying that, that kind of messes them up on the claim that the first lockdown made numbers come down, as the numbers started falling pretty much bang on the 3 week mark from lockdown 1..

I think Bojo is just trying to manage expectations, at the moment we need to do both, social distance and vaccinate and the combination of both will keep numbers down while we unlock

This lockdown was nowhere near as harsh as the first lockdown, in England anyway as places like B and Q were open, and churches/mosques had congregations, also the number of key worker kids at school was much higher

Boris has always said that it would be slow and steady steps but those steps were irreversible. If vaccination doesn't protect people, nothing will.

I think Boris was saying "look we got it right" it was him telling us what he did was right but he was not predicting anymore lockdowns. that ship has sailed

NL: also our ICU chief Gommers last night made a comparison last year April to this year

last year: 1.400 ICU patients

now: 784 ICU patients

not as much as in first wave but still way too high, and Gommers wants all 60+ vaccinated as soon as possible

all dutch olympic participants will get vaccinated as of now, they will get priority regardless of age

They are handing out self testing kits to passers by on the streets of London now..a months worth to anyone who wants them.

Interesting fact...these tests cost 35 pound a box when they first came out. They are also made in china.
