Default How adverse were/are you to lockdown?

Was it at least partially enjoyable for you (esp. introverts) or are you dreading another lockdown?

I don't mind most of it but not being allowed to leave the local area is a ****ing nightmare. If they removed travel restrictions I wouldn't really care about the rest. I miss cinemas a little but it's not a massive issue. Schools being closed was also awful.

I managed to find a routine that helped me cope with it by the third one to the point that lockdown wasn't a constant punishment for me.

That being said, I would dread any further lockdowns because, obviously, it's been over a year now and that kind of thing is just not sustainable longterm and the longer it goes on the more I'm likely to find myself out of a job.

The first one I was seeing through rose tinted glasses in hindsight, I genuinely thought we’d be over it come Autumn the weather was really good too so that helped a lot for me. So yeah it was a bit boring but because it was an odd experience there were elements slightly enjoyable to it for me?

The second one was probably the one I felt the worst in, when lockdown measure started again like September/October time was probably when I felt my worst in the pandemic till December really.

I’m just used to it now and the third one hasn’t really bothered me because it just feels like normal life.

I’m dreading the thought of another though, I’m not sure if my mental health could take it again.

lockdowns weren't that big an issue for me, it was the fear mongering by the media that annoyed me more than anything else. During the first lockdown I learned to take no notice of the media, and from that point on it was fine

Honestly, it didn't change too much, I miss going out with friends but for the most part, we adapted. We used to enjoy going to the cinema during the day so instead, we'd watch a film over Zoom and so on and so forth.

If we didn't have the technology we have today, it would have been a far worse experience but I never really felt all that 'apart' from others, during the lockdown.

First one wasn’t too bad because we all believed it’d be the last one, the second and hybrid were awful. Not being able to properly exercise or let out steam on the weekend were the worst hitters for me. Secondly just how monotonous everything became from lockdown. If you’re working from home for over a year it’s very dull.

The first one I wasn’t too bothered by because it was just kinda a weird experience and I could still talk to friends and have a laugh over social apps (Houseparty for example).

The second and third lockdowns have been more difficult because they’ve just been really tedious and I’ve been eager to get back to normality. The thought of a possible future lockdown tho worries me.

Exclamation Did Lockdown Work? An Economist’s Cross-Country Comparison

Comparing weekly mortality in 24 European countries, the findings in this paper suggest
that more severe lockdown policies have not been associated with lower mortality. In other
words, the lockdowns have not worked as intended.
Further tests also show that early
interventions offered no additional benefits or effectiveness and even indicate that the
lockdowns of the spring of 2020 were associated with significantly more deaths in the
particular age group between 60 and 79 years.

The main problem at hand is therefore that the evidence presented here
suggests that lockdowns have not significantly affected the development of
mortality in Europe. They have nevertheless wreaked economic havoc in
most societies and may lead to a substantial number of additional deaths for
other reasons. A British government report from April for example assessed
that a limited lockdown could cause 185,000 excess deaths over the next
years, while UNICEF warns of an increase in child marriages, owing to the
economic effects of Western lockdowns in developing countries (DHSC 2020;
Philipose and Aika 2021). Evaluated as a whole, at a first glance, the
lockdown policies of the Spring of 2020 therefore appear to be substantial
long-run government failures.
