...Concrete Cowboy...just a beautiful story of a father/son healing and also portraying the ‘community healing’ work of the Fletcher Street Riders and young people especially in teaching the values of community/family and caring for etc...lovely that some of the real riders were a huge part of the movie.....8/10...

...Beneath...
don’t go into the water obviously is always the message in such movies...don’t go into the water and don’t watch the movie... goddamn t’is bad...2/10...

Independence Day: Resurgence.

...I don’t know what to say. This might actually be the worst movie I’ve ever seen. Genuinely awful.

It was supposedly setting up for a further sequel that never came...

Godzilla V Kong

It was ok, but it didn’t really make a lot of sense?

Default What was the last film you watched?

I mean that’s unsurprising because it was terrible. Everything about it from the script, to the pacing, to the acting, to the tone was like a cheap B movie and it had characters and plot points that literally went nowhere. The only good thing it had going for it was it’s CGI budget and that was truly wasted on this. No wonder Will Smith turned it down. It’s actually tarnished the memory of Independence Day which is a fantastic film... I wish I had never watched it .

I know, and I just can't believe they messed up the sequel so badly. It almost feels like it's mocking the original at times? Like it's aiming for nostalgia by echoing some of the big moments, but it comes across as taking the piss...

Anyway, last night we watched

Run on Netflix.

It was an enjoyable enough, if slightly not-believable, little thriller for 99% of the run time... but the very last scene was dumb. It should have been left on the cutting room floor, a silly un-needed twist that didn't really make any sense.

Well it's implied she has been because she talks about her kid and "both sets of grandparents" one of which we can assume is her birth parents... but her still getting some sort of petty revenge all those years later? It just seems a bit... sad... like you would prefer to see that she's actually moved on, and come to terms with the fact that her "mother" was just an extremely unwell individual.

...White Tiger...I liked it a lot, it was thoroughly absorbing and showing quite a brutal ‘class system’ ...and how equally brutal someone would have to be to make a better life...8/10....

...Made in Italy...I wanted to watch this movie because of its plot and that it so mirrored a tragic real life for Liam Neeson and his son Micheal Richardson...a father and son losing a wife/mother suddenly in a tragic accident, they were both guests on Graham Norton a few weeks ago, talking about it...Liam looked a little out of place at the beginning, I thought ...but by the end I liked his casting and character as being something totally different to ‘big man, Liam’ and he has a particular type of skills etc because this character showed different particular skills...I liked him playing that gentle character, that deeply thoughtful character and an artist....anyways Micheal Richardson is delightful also and ughhhhhhh, the setting in Italy......just beautiful and then some..and the rest of the cast were lovely as well ....6/10.......

...Sound of Metal...it grips from the very first crash of the drumbeat and doesn’t let go through the whole movie, completely absorbing and mesmerising...the performance of Riz Ahmed is simply brilliance ...a truly excellent movie......

...9.5/10...

Default What was the last film you watched?

1917

Absolutely gripping from the opening seconds to the last moment ..

Fabulous story based ‘around’ a series of stories told to the writer/director Sam Memdes by his grandfather who was in the war and lived through the ‘stories’ ...

Shot in one continuous scene !!!!

So good I watched it again the following evening something I’ve never , ever done

10/10
