Default China :Rape in Uighur camps in front other prisoners

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-55930344

[The US government has said it is
"deeply disturbed" by a BBC report detailing
allegations of systematic rape of
Uighur women in Chinese camps.
"These atrocities shock the conscience
and must be met with
serious consequences," a spokesperson said.
In the UK parliament on Thursday,
government minister Nigel Adams
said the report showed "clearly evil acts".
According to estimates, more than
a million Uighurs and other minorities
have been detained in camps in China.

An investigation published by the BBC
on Wednesday contained first-hand testimony
of systematic rape, sexual abuse and torture
of women detainees by police and guards.

China's foreign ministry has denied the allegations,
accusing the BBC of making a "false report".
]

Look China
let the western press in.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-55930344

[A Kazakh woman from Xinjiang who was detained for 18 months
in the camp system said she was forced to strip Uighur women
naked and handcuff them, before leaving them alone with Chinese men.
The Chinese men "would pay money to have their pick of the
prettiest young inmates", said Gulzira Auelkhan.
"They forced me to take off those women's clothes and to restrain
their hands and leave the room," she said.

A former guard at one of the camps, who spoke on condition
of anonymity, described torture and food deprivation of inmates.]

It's sadly not surprising, China is committing genocide against Uighers, and they'll continue to do so because the world is content to stand by and watch, as long as it doesn't interfere with the economy. We'll say hollow condemnations, but no country will actually subject China to any meaningful consequences for their actions.

Reading some of the things that have been done to the Uighers reminds me a lot of the Japanese forces and government during WW2 and before, China had acutely suffered from such brutality, yet a few generations later, they are inflicting this same brutality on others.

Despite UK and USA anger at what they are doing to the Uighurs

We can't even mention that the Corona virus originated in China without being called racist so it is no surprise that this is happening with no censure.

The WHO were out yesterday at the research centre where they think the corona virus might have come from and the wet market, its clear to see that no liability will be attached to China, it was a box ticking exercise at most, it was suggested we may never know where patient zero came from....2021 folks

I think that is slightly misrepresenting the truth.

I don't think anyone had an issue with talking about where the virus originated, I think the issue was how it was being used to absolve ineffectual right wing populist governments of blame for their response.

Saying that Ebola started in Africa is not racist, but calling it dirty darky organ bleeding, is. China wasn't being used in any other way than in the pejorative sense, such as evil china virus or kung flu.

I've said this many times but one can't help but wonder just why the world is turning a blind eye to behaviour which led to a World War...

But then the answer is obvious: Moneeeyyy. Since the world has started to bend the knee to get those sweet Chinabux, they've been allowed to get away with all sorts of crap. How can Disney call themselves inclusive when they removed whatshisface from the Star Wars posters and only leave in easily removable gay references ... Once China banned Ghostbusters (2016) for being evil witchcraft, Hollywood should have gave them the finger and left them to it.

Hollywood tangent aside If China hadn't insinuated their way into the world's wallet, people might be taking actual action.

I’ve seen people called racist for just mentioning it came from China and then again when SA was mentioned, that’s the level of stupid we are at

To be fair though, some people do call it the China Virus or Kung Flu just to wind up people who get overly sensitive about that kind of thing

Yeah I understand that but it can’t be denied that is where it took off and that they were slow to tell anyone and were still claiming that there was no human to human transmission in January 2020, it’s not racist to point out facts, we should not have to worry about being labelled racist because people get wound up easily

Cherie that's ridiculous we all know it originated in China, it's utter ignorance if people are calling you racist just for stating facts.

However some people were actually being racist and blaming random Chinese people living in the UK with remarks like "take Covid back " & "you Covid bitch" . So idiots will always be idiots.

There was another thread about China recently where I believed that we would have let Hitler do what he wanted if he chose to pursue an economic path over one of war. It's quite a worrying thought, how the world would stand by and let such atrocities happen if enough money is involved.

China has historic taboos when it comes to the occult and the dead, very few, if any, ghost related media will be aired in China. I have less of an issue with those beliefs than the discrimination in de-emphasising John Boyega which was nothing short of pandering to bigotry.

I think it's more than just an "ignore it for the sake of the economy" thing. China have ~260 nuclear warheads, Nazi Germany did not, and the idea of apocalyptic outcomes to war were not really within reach the last time an alliance of countries stood up to another.

The race for nuclear armament might have brought about a weird stalemate during the Cold War, but it's now resulted in a grim bargaining chip that can be dangled whenever one of those countries are inconvenienced in their crimes against humanity.

The problem with war, though, is that it impacts the economy and China would likely avoid anything that could prompt a war that would impede it's international hold on the market. They have nukes, but I honestly couldn't see them using them at any point.

I don't think we should go to war with China, but the world should, in an ideal world, inflict some serious financial damage on it.

The Chinese Government have gotten away with spreading a Pandemic across the globe.

I highly doubt that anyone will punish them over this atrocity either.

Uighurs: China bans UK MPs after abuse sanctions

[China has imposed sanctions on nine
UK citizens - including five MPs - for spreading
what it called "lies and disinformation" about
the country.
The group are among the most vocal
critics of China in the UK.
It comes in retaliation for measures taken
by the UK government on Monday
over human rights abuses against
the Uighur Muslim minority group.
The foreign secretary said if Beijing
wanted to "credibly rebut" the claims
it should allow UN access to Xinjiang.
Those targeted by China include former
Conservative leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith,
two peers, a lawyer and an academic.
Sir Iain said he would wear the
sanctions "as a badge of honour".

The response by China follows similar
sanctions imposed on the European Union,
which was part of the co-ordinated
action on Monday, along with the UK,
the US and Canada.

China has detained Uighurs at
camps in the north-west region of Xinjiang,
where allegations of torture, forced labour
and sexual abuse have emerged.
It has denied the allegations of abuse,
claiming the camps are "re-education"
facilities used to combat terrorism.
Western states sanction China
for Uighur 'abuses']

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56532569

China is not letting any in to see that place
and are not accepting the accusations

House of Commons declares Uighurs are being subjected to genocide in China...

MPs have declared that Uighurs and other ethnic and religious minorities in China's Xinjiang region are being subjected to genocide.

The House of Commons on Thursday approved a motion calling on the government to act to fulfil its obligations under international human rights law.

Although the motion passed by MPs is non-binding on the government, it will increase pressure on ministers to take a harder stance over the issue.

In January, the US declared China had committed genocide in its repression of the Uighurs, while national parliaments in Canada and the Netherlands have also made the same declaration.

But Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said, for the UK, the attribution of genocide is a matter for the courts.

During Thursday's debate in the Commons, former Conservative leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith urged the government to "rethink their position".

"We will not gain any particular friendship by not calling out genocide from the Chinese," he told MPs.

"It is simply not a tradable item. The UK government has said endlessly - and I understand this - that only a competent court can declare genocide, that is absolutely the original plan.

"But the problem is that getting to a competent court is impossible.

"At the United Nations it is impossible to get through to the International Court of Justice, it is impossible to get through to the International Criminal Court as China is not a signatory to that and therefore will not obey that."

Sir Iain told MPs that trying to get China to sign up to international pledges on climate change should not be a "balancing point" when considering whether to take action over Beijing's treatment of Uighurs and other minority groups.

"These are all abuses which must be called out," he added.

"Whether or not we need China to cooperate on other matters, we cannot simply say that one matter is worth some sacrifice over the other. It is not."

In his contribution to the debate, the ex-Tory leader also referenced Sky News' Asia correspondent Tom Cheshire's recent reporting about the treatment of Uighurs working in other parts of China.

Conservative former minister Nus Ghani, who moved the motion in the Commons on Thursday, acknowledged some MPs were "reluctant to use the word genocide".

"For many, the word will forever be associated with the horrors of the Nazi concentration camps and I agree with colleagues that we should never diminish the unique meaning or power of this term by applying it incorrectly," she said.

"But there is a misunderstanding that genocide is just one act - mass killing. That is false."

Ms Ghani - who was among five MPs China recently imposed sanctions on for "lies and disinformation" about the country - said genocide concerns intent to "destroy in whole or in part" a national, ethnic, racial or religious group.

"All five criteria of genocide are evidenced as taking place in Xinjiang," she added.

Liberal Democrat foreign affairs spokeswoman Layla Moran said: "If we end up being proved to be wrong because an independent, UN inspector goes in and is allowed to do their work and it's shown that we all got the wrong end of the stick, then I would welcome that.

"But I would rather be wrong now than be on the wrong side of history later."

Speaking on behalf of the government in the Commons, Foreign Office minister Nigel Adams highlighted how the UK recently sanctioned Chinese officials over activities in Xinjiang.

He also pointed to UK export controls on goods from Xinjiang, the government's calls for the UN's high commissioner for human rights to have "urgent and unfettered access" to the region, and joint international action against China.

But Mr Adams repeated that the UK's "longstanding position, like many countries around the world, is that determining whether a situation amounts to genocide or crimes against humanity is an issue for competent national and international courts".

In April 2016, MPs previously voted to say the Yazidis suffered genocide at the hands of Islamic State.

After her motion was approved by MPs, Ms Ghani said: "China's attempt to intimidate parliament into silence has backfired.

"The elected House has spoken and chose to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our international allies, the Uighur people, and all those who have been sanctioned.

"Our hard won parliamentary democracy will always stand up for what is right and remain free from foreign interference."

#Ms Ghani's motion stated: "That this House believes that Uighurs and other ethnic and religious minorities in the Xinjiang Uighur autonomous region are suffering crimes against humanity and genocide; and calls on the government to act to fulfil its obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide and all relevant instruments of international law to bring it to an end."

Exactly, what is the issue with calling a spade a spade, and calling a totalitarian commie genocidal government out for what it is...
