How can it be antisemitic to support Palestinians? They are semites too :/
I'm really conflicted remember the ANC and Mandela? He fought for and was considered a terrorist for years when all he wanted was freedom, fairness and rights... years from now could this be said of Hamas? Anyone even suggesting a dialogue is vilified. How is there to be any diplomacy in the world if nobody is willing to discuss the matter? Dress this up any way you like it's wrong, how Israel has acted and reacted is wrong, the west sitting back and ignoring this is wrong. Violence isn't the answer however the phrase one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter springs to mind. When nobody is speaking and your rights have been stripped away and nobody cares what's left?

When you have a group (hamas) whose stated aim is to wipe out all jews in the world and they are a designated terrorist organisation, how can people support them.
We all feel for the plight of the palestinian people and innocents getting caught up in it on whatever side is abhorrent. Israel are not blameless, hamas are not blameless, but until both sides agree to stop trying to kill the other you can't expect 1 side to say ok, hit me with what you got and we will just take it. There has to be agreement, and i don't think that's likely any time soon |

You can't both sides a conflict where one country has been invaded and occupied. No one wants to answer the question about what we would expect brits to do if we were invaded, had our homes bulldozed, our children murdered, and forced to live under apartheid whilst walled in and denied basic human rights. A coupe of years ago, folks would never have even both-sides this issue so I guess progress is slowly being made.

apartheid is not a land dispute, as well you know. it's amazing how one side of this thread talks about specifics, and another talks in nonsensical generalisations.

--------------- The charge of apartheid is the new blood libel. As Hamas rains rockets down on Israel, members of the Squad in Congress and other left-wing enemies are using the occasion to amplify their accusation that Israel is an “apartheid state.” This is a transparent attempt to delegitimize — and isolate and ultimately destroy — the Jewish state by associating it with a racist regime that the world united to squeeze out of existence. It doesn’t take much moral discernment to understand, even if one takes a harshly critical view of how Israel conducts itself, that it is nothing like an apartheid regime in South Africa that depended on a rigorously enforced system of racial repression. The Arab minority in Israel (about 20 percent of the population) may face obstacles, but it is not treated like black South Africans were. Israel is a democracy that affords its Arab citizens full rights. They vote in elections, and Arab parties sit in parliament. These parties obviously have a profoundly different worldview than the Zionist parties, which has been a barrier preventing cooperation between them. Arab Israelis are full participants in Israeli society. There are Arab justices on the Supreme Court. About 20 percent of doctors in Israel and about half of pharmacists are Arab. Roughly 17 percent of students seeking an undergraduate degree are Arab, a number that has roughly doubled over the past decade. As Steve Kramer of the Times of Israel puts it, “They arguably are the most free Arabs in the Middle East.” https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/...state/#slide-1 |

Listened to a debate recently where it was brought up the fact that British Muslims are expected to voice condemnation of attacks, we've seen that echoed on this forum too. And we have seen that condemnation in marches across many major British cities. Now I'm not saying that the Jewish community should do this, however a comparison can now be drawn. Is that something that may happen?

All buildings attacked by Israel in retaliation to the random rocket attacks on its citizens were given notice to evacuate by the Israelis.....even the ones containing hamas operatives.

Also if you think Hamas = Palestine then you don't understand this situation at all and you really should go fix your ignorance on the issue. You're basically confusing a terrorist group for a nation and then making out that the group's actions make the frequent human rights abuse of palestinians an acceptable response. That Apartheid is an acceptable response, that going out and executing civilians is an acceptable response and displacing others and spitting in their face is an acceptable response. It's ****ing not, I cannot stand how people are so accepting of human rights abuse and war crimes. |
