Arguably the biggest signing the show has ever scored, Elton reportedly recorded his guest stint earlier this year.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, it’s said he appeared via video link.

“Elton is a massive fan of RuPaul and the show, so he was keen to be part of the new series,” an insider told the Daily Star.

“To say producers were thrilled to get him to sign up would be a massive understatement. They couldn’t believe their luck.

“Plenty of rival reality shows have never secured a guest this big.”

The news comes after the first guest judge for Drag Race UK season three was leaker earlier this month, with Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock reported to be appearing.

Leigh-Anne reportedly joined RuPaul and Michelle Visage in person in Manchester to film her guest slot.

A source at the BBC told the Daily Star: “Producers have gone all out to get some great names for this *series. It is definitely going to be the most exciting line-up yet.

“Elton is by far the biggest star they’ve got taking part, but he won’t be the only A List name.

“Drag Race UK has become a big hit for the BBC and execs think it can get even bigger.”

Drag Race UK season two saw several high profile celebrities join the judging panel for guest slots, including Dawn French, Elizabeth Hurley and Lorraine Kelly.

The new series is set to air on BBC Three later this year, although a date has not been officially confirmed.

Excited about the new season, RuPaul said: “We feel honoured that you’ve embraced our little show, and our only wish is that we can offer a smile at a time when we can all use it the most.”

Hmm. Big for the show, but the skeptic in me can't really picture Elton giving even a minuscule **** about the wellbeing or constructive criticism of drag queens...

I am generally against big-name judges... I'd rather have people who have experience with drag and care about the show/queens. In recent years there've been so many big names that just...visibly... don't care (Shania Twain, Taika Waititi, Chaka Khan, Cheryl).

On the flipside there is the rare moment a big celeb has seemed really invested and been a great judge (Whoopi, Jeff Goldblum, Lady Gaga, Twiggy)
