Brazil: more than half million deaths of covid

the last few days death average: more than 2.000

daily number of new cases: more than 70.000

according to official numbers on vaccinations: less than 12% of the population had a jab

experts fear the number of patients will drastically increase now it'll become winter in the southern areas

well who to blame for these horrible numbers, President Bolsonaro of course with his lacklustre approach, also refusing a new lockdown which could damage the economy, well tbh if ur numbers are that bad, then **** the economy, health should come first

New real-world study data from Public Health England (PHE) has demonstrated that two doses of either Pfizer/BioNTech or AstraZeneca’s (AZ) COVID-19 vaccines are ‘highly’ effective against the Delta variant (previously known as the Indian variant).
The study included 14,019 individuals in England who had tested positive for the Delta variant, of which 166 were hospitalised between 12 April and 4 June.
According to the data, the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was 96% effective against hospitalisation or death caused by the Delta variant following two doses.
The AZ vaccine was 92% effective against hospitalisation or death from the Delta variant after two doses.
The data also showed that a single dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was 94% effective at preventing hospitalisation, while AZ’s jab was 71% effective after the first dose.

These seem to change every week but I’m starting to suspect the 30% figures that were floating about were totally fabricated as a vaccine incentive.

they wanted people to get both shots rather than just take the one, so they seem to have pushed that only 1 jab wasn't very effective, but then it was super effective in january when they wanted everyone to have at least 1 jab protection. It can't be both things

I'm really not trusting all these government rules at the moment. I think a lot of lies and misinformation are spread and they are being quite controlling and using it to their advantage to suit when needed. I'm not even trusting how effective the vaccines really are and I think deaths caused by vaccines are numbers that are getting hidden from us too. I'm really really not buying into certain things right now

That’s less than 1 person per a city in the U.K.
Maybe 0.3 per a hospital extra?

It’s all so unsettling.

We have been told to start testing all our pupils again ( twice a week ) starting on Monday ... all extremely short notice as usual .

Staff getting training first thing Monday morning just before the pupils arrive in a delayed start .

Why did you stop testing? All high schools local to me have never stopped. They dropped the masks requirement but most have re-instated that again now.

excluding london, the numbers of infected are going down now in the hotspots. London has some areas with really low jab uptake, so it's going to show itself in the figures. If people dont take up the offer of the vaccine and then end up in hospital, there is no-one to blame but themselves

Sounds like it’s a mixture of complacency as it looked like numbers were dropping fast plus the cost of all the testing was apparently very expensive .

It’s crazy given we’re extremely close to Bolton who are possibly the worst area in the whole country

Tests have been sent home of late .. trusting the parents to test their kids twice a week .

It’s doubtful many ever bothered though

Most pupils wear masks in class but about 40% flout the rules on the corridors
