Everywhere has Delta .

Worth remembering with Nicky's stats though, that The Netherlands has a population of 17.5 million vs the UK's 68 million, so 99 is ICU in The Netherlands is the equivalent of 384 being in ICU in the UK, which makes their numbers actually very similar (or in fact slightly worse) than UK figures currently.

the numbers are rising, but nothing like they did during previous waves, and the country is all but open again, and this is with a more infectious variant

My point was that we’re all at different points with the Delta variant .. some have had it a while and it’s dominant others are a bit behind ( as I understand)

The deaths total is staying low - as everyone keeps saying but ... long Covid effects aren’t to be belittled imho

Especially as long Covid is effecting younger folk and children apparently

I do wonder why we’re only told of the ones that die within 28 days ...

I know they have to have a cut off point but why such a short period?

Slightly bizarre tbh

It’s probably over estimating them if anything…. A lot of people will have just died of something unrelated to covid and had been tested positive within 28 days anyway because hundreds of thousands are tested daily

Also do you not want things to get back to normal? It’s been almost a year and a half now… it’s never going to go away, vaccinating is pretty much done.every adult has had access to a vaccine if they wish, Is your solution to remain locked up forever? Because cases are going to rise as restrictions end (as they have been) and as people care less about covid (as they do because they’re vaccinated and people have been promised freedom) meaning mixing is happening regardless now.

No point living in fear, if you’ve been vaccinated it’s much less deadly than the flu.
If you are so worried maybe don’t leave the house? There’s an element of risk with everything we do and up to 50 people dying a day out of 65m really isn’t that much in the grand scheme of life itself

yes the delta variant is in my country, but we are not stopping the relaxing of measures simply because our RIVM and all virologists here see no reason for panic

since our hospitalisations, ICU's are still going down quite fast despite the bit of increase in cases now today there were somewhat above 1.200 new cases

tbh the public need this freedom big time now, and as long as we up the vaccinations which are going the right direction, 16.4 total out of 17.5 isn't bad at all, so at least we gave protection to majority

i do still think this might do the trick in getting covid smaller and smaller, covid will stay among us but i do still believe we can control it for our ''normal'' or new normal lives to continue

same in UK, keep vaccinating, and i think even the delta will eventually become less and less dominant

i myself am not scared of this, for me refusing the vaccine but i am not a anti-vaxxer either, if i did socialize or if i did still go to work i would've taken the vaccine i swear, but my lifestyle well i do not socialize, and my parents already had one dose, very shortly to go for their second dose, my nan (mom's mum) is fully vaccinated who lives next door to us

Douglas hope things go back to normal soon over there

Time to get back to normal.
Lockdown isn't possible as a permanent solution, people need to get back to work.
All we can do is vaccinate as many as possible as try to be sensible.

The hospitalisation numbers keep going up...

As much as I want to get back to normal on July 19th, it feels like the numbers are gonna rocket up when restrictions are gone

Yes they are now saying in England
Mask wearing will be Voluntary.

Which is a good way.

On Ch4HDnews
even some young people said they will still wear the mask

In Scotland
Mask wearing will continue until August

I will keep wearing the mask when in crowded places inside.
Outside I think there's no need, fresh air helps.
