"Good" I suppose is the wrong word as it is purely subjective. I would argue that there is such a thing as an objectively well made film when you break down different aspects. Good staging, well edited, good pacing, sound design, etc.

You can for example tell also if a film is not well made - but some poorly/cheaply made films are actually very enjoyable and fun, or even just have an interesting or original concept behind them that makes them a gripping watch, and that could make it a "good film", but not necessarily a "well made film". That's the difference I'm trying to get at, I suppose.

On the other hand you can have an immaculately put together film that just doesn't grab you - i.e. a well made film that not everyone will enjoy.

"The Shining" is a good example for me. I can appreciate that it is an exceptionally well made movie, but I personally have never rated it at all.

Or on the flipside; I think Zack Snyder movies are objectively exceptionally well made movies and I personally enjoy the style of his movies, HOWEVER I can totally understand why some people don't like them at all.

Yes! They have a vet good algorithm where they will suggest movies based on your scores

i get your point TS

but sometimes it is the B Movies i enjoy more than whats among the Oscar nominees/winners, only exception of a oscar movie i liked was Titanic but that's it regarding those ''quality movies''

movies like Sharknado franchise, or other shark attack films, i enjoy very very much, because even for low budget they are very well made, especially the former, the CGI effects and Ian Ziering really has some really convincing acting work too + i like most of the cameo's too in those

Honestly I would watch anything just to see what it's like.

Sometimes if we are bored we watch really awful horror movies (like on the horror channel) just to get a good laugh at how bad they are

Under a 6 it’s rare that the movie won’t have some obvious flaws BUT those movies can still be entertaining even if they’re not “great”, which is why I’d say low rating isn’t necessarily a reason not to watch. We’ve watched and enjoyed a few cheaply made horrors on “Shudder” for example that often score around the 5.5 range but are nonetheless entertaining, just a bit amateurish.

With TV series tbh anything under a 7 is probably not very watchable.
Pretty much this tbh

Also, it depends on the genre. For example, when watching a horror, anything over 6 is well worth a watch..

For me personally if a TV Show or Movie scores below a 4/10 then I'm out.

I've actually liked Shows in the past that have scored 4.8 to 4.9/10 on IMDB.

Sadly some people don't like Horror Films, and they leave reviews on sites such as IMDB bashing these Films based on their own personal taste rather than on the Film's actual quality half of the time.

I don't really have one - I actually tend to steer well clear of films and shows that are highly rated because I'm usually disappointed. They never seem to live up to the hype, minus a few. I much prefer the hidden, underappreciated gems and the low-budget horrors.
